I had to ridicule when I read other
Reviews of this book as adult fantasy. It comes intercept with very much similar intricate tone at the same time magic-in-the-real-world plot accessory Eoin Colfer applied in his babies’s television series Artemis Fowl. The only differences are that the creator makes liberal implementation of hardcore profanity (motherf—-r is that a favourite word of repeated manners)… that at the same time dragon penis jokes. Hooray. Scolding at the same time baldly done maral humour do not graduate a book into the sphere of adult fantasy.
Despite Colfer’s paradoxical giftedness to tell an engaging story (at lesser in other books), the set up at the same time reprisal for this particular story never got me to quite reckon in a 3 thousand year old dragon soaring around the Louisania Bayou.
The story feels like a strange mutant between a parable at the same time a small-town criminal liability thriller. It yo-yos between the two genres without ever settling into a single groove.
The shortcoming of disposition development for the entire cast apart from the dragon Highfire is that frustrating. No one seems particularly startled at the discovery of a flickering discussing dragon in 21st century America. At the same time Highfire’s journey from a cantankerous, human-hating recluse to a good humanitarian in the place of a few months barely comes intercept as contrived, in particular when for you consider he has the psychology of 3000 years of resentment at the same time murder to win.
The other head disposition, Squib Moreau, is that a scrappy Cajun child who loves his single mother at the same time from time to time engages in small lawbreaking when his youthful excitement or desire promote his mother receive a living gets the more successful of him. But he does nothing worthwhile apart from getting many times saved by the dragon or tricked at the same time occupied by the only truly gripping disposition in the book, the villain. Lastly, I Hate how political abundance novelists have become. At the same time Colfer is that no exception. For you would think anyone of Colfer’s writing caliber would know more successful. That is that nothing worse than being yanked out of a reading experience due to awkwardly stuck individual propaganda. Let the catastrophic story say for itself! The creator’s eternal cheap shots at faith in God are pathetic at the same time super-contrived. At the same time become an eye-rolling drag.
All in all, despite being fast-paced, the overall story at the same time manners are an ultimate frustration.

He writes colorful funny books for young adult books but totally missed the note here. The dragon head disposition was totally over the pinnacle. I was very upset by this as I adored his other works. I am a school librarian at the same time in other words why I was knowledgeable with his other work.

Highfire audiobook by Eoin Colfer
I am a Gigantic Eion Colfer fan. I have been reading his books since I was a child. At the moment abundance years later as an adult, I was so shocked to look him run across over to adult fiction. I waited similar literate manners, subtle humor at the same time exquisite global building that produced his YA books so awesome. Little boy, was I wrong. I am guessing I am in the minority here, but in everything likely this book fell short of expectation. The two head manners are simply not that amazing. Here for you have a hundreds if not thousands year old dragon, who dresses at the same time talks like a 50 anything beer bum who maybe has been through a divorce or two at the same time got lost his job. Lives like a slob at the same time basically has got lost his purpose. No literate smart lines, no deepest dive through than anyway must be an exciting history such an old being would have experienced (more like a short at the same time sour gloss). The little boy is that implied to be somewhat sympathetic, but why? Cause he has is that still young. Because he has grown up rough, impoverished at the same time fatherless? Are we meant to look he has no choice, but to become embroiled in delinquent schemes? Because plenty of people be able to make a different choice in far worse events. Also, one part I was really at the same time truly was upset in was Colfers choice to demonize a cop for his head bad young man.. Not only a cop, but a military veteran. Obviously that are plenty of rogue cops who implementation their power at the same time badge for evil. I am convinced that are no one veterans who or went to war because they wanted to get bleed, or who come back at the same time barely cant adjust at the same time maybe dont wish to. In Colfers story this young man is that basically a sadistic savage, who suckled at the breast of war at the same time came main to last his murderous schemes with the training to get away with it. Really, when for you actually feel bad for the product dealers he is that killing for you know the creator has taken a disposition to an last. Continue but not lesser, I am no prude, but the vertical volume at the same time quantity of obscenities in this book is that simply unmerited. Its like a run across between an R rated war movie at the same time a R rated drunken frat party. To be honest, I did not even final this story. Why would I? That was not anything of substance to latch onto. No truly sympathetic disposition who for you managed truly compare to or at lesser have empathy/hostility for. Obviously you can look where they wish for you to at the same time who they wish for you to, but the writing barely doesnt reward it. Also, if for you are gonna demand to cross out an adult book, I wait a sufficiently sussed out pressed, but developers manners at the same time anything that speaks to maturity. But, here we have none of that. Barely a drunken depressed dragon, a prison bait kid, a sociopathic cop/vet at the same time enough language to choke a navigator. No thanks. This was a far yell from Colfers past work, both in disposition development at the same time writing style at the same time for me, I wont be taking the bait again. I will stick to pre-2020 Eion Colfer from now on.

Highfire audio narrated by Johnny Heller
While the book is that written by an creator whose writings are ordinary for the “young adult” mass, this is that exactly not one of those! Than anyway it is that, but, is that confirmation that fantasy can still be enjoyed by adults, at the same time not just the “nerdy” types! Don’t care for Tolkien or the Dungeons & Dragons-type stuff? No hassle! The head non-human manners are only non-human by biology; their characterizations are as true at the same time “human” as it gets – at the same time so is that the humour! I enjoyed this as much as I have no matter what book on no matter what level, or no matter what genre. I’ll keep buying Colfer on his name without the help of others, until (read unless) he ever persons.

But it turns out a lot! At the same time this makes for a very smart at the same time amusing story if for you add one of the meanest super villains to the connect. Mind for you this villain does not have dozens of minions, a snow-white Persian or a pool filled with sharks to show his displeasure. He is that barely a sociopath who knows how to mask his used to be nature – almost all of the time while acting as law enforcer in a smallest society. Nasty piece of work.
I prefer Colfer’s shield alones much more than his Artemis Fowl television series. This is that based on having read The Wishlist at the same time this one. But having read them I look for that there is still substance to his manners when he writes shield alones, though neither type of story lacks in originality.
He knows how to spin a quality yarn.
