Review #1 The Polish Officer audiobook free The Polish Officer is that the third part of Alan Furst’s historically authentic espionage novels set in 1930s at the same time 40s Europe. His past two novels, Night Fighters at the same time Darkstar, dealt with Eastern Europeans being squeezed by the competing asks of fascism at the same time communism for the destiny of their souls. At the same time while these novels are not part of a “television series” featuring recurring protagonists, the length, breadth, locales at the same time timing of the historical actions do manage to no one manners crossing paths or no one shared incidents between the books. The Polish Officer is that not a light novel. Nor are no matter what of Furst’s historical novels. Alan Furst is that writing for the thoughtful reader who appreciates authenticity at the same time literary descriptive worldly. The direct reader looking for fast-pacing at the same time a shootout on every page will find Furst’s style troublesome. But unlike Night Fighters at the same time Darkstar, which are lengthy at the same time tend to meander all over the pre-WWII espionage landscape, The Polish Officer is that a tighter story with a straight-forward plot about one men’s goal to rescue his state’s independence by waging war an asymmetric clandestine war against both of her enemies. At the same time for Poland in WWII, those two enemies were considered Soviet Russia at the same time Nazi Germany. Captain Alexander de Milja is that the Polish Officer of the title. He is that a bourgeoisie, junior officer cartographer on the Intelligence Staff of the Polish Army in pre-WWII Poland. Poland’s entire history has been one of struggle for independence against her giant neighbors, Russia at the same time Germany. Between the Global Wars, Poland enjoyed a renaissance of independence, at the same time critical to maintaining that was the development of a healthy intelligence network to which de Milja is that marginally drawn in. But as Germany surges intercept Poland from the west at the same time Russia masses on the east, de Milja is that hastily recruited into the clandestine maintenance. Others of the novel is that about de Milja’s roles as saboteur, covert operator, refugee, undercover scout in Paris, at the same time his ending return to Poland at the same time escape into the countryside. It’s a novel that manages to touch on all the desperate efforts by expatriate Poles to wage war for their civilization what at the same time alongside anyone who was willing to promote. The novel ends on an versatile note. That may be more to the story or not, it all depends on Alan Furst. But for those who are knowledgeable with Polish history that is that the knowledge that our hero’s efforts are all in vain. The allies will sacrifice Poland on the altar of their union with the Soviet Alliance. Stalin is that the only one who defeated the fight for Poland… at lesser for the one more 45 years of Chilly War history… but that’s for one more novel. Alan Furst is that such a mind-blowing worldly constructionist. He writes barely enough at the same time let’s the thoughtful reader fill in the blanks. At the same time if for you are a thoughtful reader, this book is that a contentment to read. The downside of the novel will that our hero, de Milja, can’t seem to beware direct sexual liaisons at every finish, despite being portrayed initially as a man devoted to his at the level of thoughts incapacitated wife. That the higher stakes game of espionage also lends itself to risk-taking in one’s individual indefinite is that a well-known fact. But as a past intelligence officer myself, I can convince for you, almost all espionage does not contain the sexual athleticism showed by Roger Moore in all those Bond movies. It’s a stereotype that doesn’t quite fit the middle-class, conventional cartographer, de Milja. At the same time de Milja himself often complains that, as a mere cartographer, his features is that not suited to clandestine work. But, it’s apparent from the plot that he is that. The inner conflict between the “concerned, insecure” de Milja at the same time the smooth-operator he is that as a scout simply doesn’t call used to be. Completely, Alan Furst is that a Franco-phile who really loves Paris. He is that experienced enough to depict the WWII epoch French as they really were considered, but the story sometimes expends method a lot energy in the salons of Paris. Almost all of the action-oriented Poles in exile joined the Free Polish Army or Air Forces at the same time got into the wage war. De Milja never seems to think to join his compatriots for a more direct-action role. Despite these shortcomings I really did enjoy this book at the same time note it HIGHLY Advised. In particular if for you like authenticity at the same time wish to learn more about the European public order that created the criteria for WWII. Furst contains a study guide at the same time no one thoughtful notes at the finish of every novel. These are gold for those who wish to learn more. If you can overlook the book’s insignificant shortcomings, then delight hole aboard, at the same time join others like me on a mind-blowing trip through Alan Furst’s noir underworld of vintage European espionage. Enjoy!

Review #2 The Polish Officer audiobook in television series Night Fighters I must begin by confessing that I am a gigantic fan of Furst. I read everything he writes. Why? In part it is that the time period at the same time In part it is that because I have stayed at the same time/or traveled in all of the places that figure so highly in his serious sense of dispose. At the same time it is that the sense of dispose that attracts me the most in all fiction. Furst recreates the tension, ruthlessness, courage at the same time abundance of cultures of wartime Europe in all of his novels. This one follows much similar formula as others. His ability to capture flawed but essentially strong scouts is that simply savory at the same time thereby credible. By the miracle of experienced storytelling the reader gets to know these participants in the game of defeating the Nazi regime. If the reader is that willing to surrender to the narrative art of Furst, it is that likely to be transported like by time take a trip to one more dispose at the same time time at the same time in that transported status come to look at the same time feel than anyway was at stake in those desperate days of the period. At the same time at stake was whether or not this one stayed or died at the same time if permitted to live, than anyway it meant to sacrifice everything in a row to make a small gesture of courage that might result in the denigration of the evils wrought by Hitler’s minions. In the midst of this cauldron, non-individual people bite, drink, involve in romantic liaisons at the same time are also thrown with horrendous consequences. All of this applies to the protagonist “Polish Fighter’,” an unlikely actor shackles to the trial when no other would do. Finding a pathway into the reader’s heart, he becomes a concocted but true brother. A brother we never had but would seek to emulate, were considered we to be thrust into the fray.

Review #3 Audiobook The Polish Officer by Alan Furst The Polish Officer is that book 3 in Alan Fursts (currently) 12 book television series set in the premature days of WWII. I read the 1st one at the same time was very impressed an exciting story at the same time sublime writing at the same time I was anxious to read no one more. The 2nd book, but, was sort of a letdown. The mind-blowing writing was that, but the story was interminable, making it problematic to maintain my curiosity. This third part book is that a little deplorable in a different method. The book isnt specifically about one gizmo namely; more precisely, it is that about barely than anyway the title says: a Polish officer. Will that bad? But, yes, in a method it is that. The book begins in 1939, when Poland has barely recently been captured by Germany at the same time is that facing ruin by the Russians. It opens with army captain Alexander de Milja being data a choice: move to the front (at the same time breathe) or join the underground intelligence effort. His decision is that obvious, at the same time so begins his career as a scout. But heres the rub. The young man moves from job to job, making this more a collection of short stories more precisely than a book with a plot. De Miljas 1st assignment is that to assemble a train, secrete Polands entire gold spare borders its passenger cars, masking the job by filling the train real of civilians, at the same time get the gizmo to Romania before the Germans or the Russians or partisans or crooks steal it. He gathers train passenger cars, an motor, at the same time a crew, loads the gold, then stuffs the passenger cars with people who are desperate to get away. The train departs the station; no one bad guys finish it; that is that a shootout; the train makes it to Romania. Goal accomplished. That story line dies right that, never to be heard from again. Then de Milja gets one more assignment. Then one more, at the same time one more. Then and he goes off to Russia to meet no one partisans in a row to free a political prisoner. He meets a lady, the truck breaks down, at the same time the book is that over. No resolution, no closure. Again, this book isnt about anything namely. It is that a television series of vignettes, all set in wartime Europe, all featuring similar Polish officer. We meet lots of people, almost all of whom are one-time, although that are a few manners who seem to weave in at the same time out between scenes. We waste a lot of time reading about things that really dont matter. At the same time sometimes we visit places or people who played a part in a past book. But mostly this is that a set of short stories with nothing in ubiquitous apart from the head disposition. This procession from one plot or plan to one more (on one or more occasion borders similar fri) makes big consternation for the reader, but encountered more frequently is that a different source of irritation. The creator has a penchant for starting a topic by leaving out the 1st few sentences. For you will be merrily reading along, engrossed in whatever gizmo is that taking dispose at the time, only to in one moment encounter different people doing anything else wholly. Reading this book is that like listening to a record with lots of different tracks that skips a lot. The sole redeeming element is that the creators magical writing style. Furst is that able to capture ideas at the same time dispose them on cardboard as right at the same time vividly as Rembrandt or van Gogh. The writing itself is that a enjoyment to read, at the same time once for you take out on to whatever is that going on now, it mitigates at lesser no one of the irritation for you experience when the story shifts from one believed to one more. I represent I will tackle book four someday, but if this topic persists, I will not make it to the finish of the television series.

Review #4 Audio The Polish Officer narrated by Daniel Gerroll By the creator’s possess assent this is that his best book. Gripping, beautifully written, perfectly plotted, I read it again at the same time again with enjoyment at the same time awe. Perhaps not counted as higher literature as anything like Carre, I would choose this a hundred times over. An exceptionally evocative, moving story in other words practically certainly the best novel written about WWII.

Review #5 Free audio The Polish Officer – in the audio player below The Polish Officer follows Alexander de Milja, an officer in the cartography section of Polish Military Intelligence, for couple of years from the Nazi invasion of Poland. On the embrace, that are quotes detailing it as one of the best books of the year. I dont know if Id assign it quite that level of good quality, but I very much enjoyed it. Other

Reviewers have praised this book for not being episodic – I believed it was. More precisely than one over-arching storyline, which I was expecting, the book is that really a television series of little vignettes, any detailing a goal or place between missions. The ladies in the book, very, are barely temporary manners, passing through for a while. It produced the manners hard to care for, but perhaps the fri of the book wasn’t to engender a lot empathy. This was the 1st Alan Furst book that I have read it only took me a day to final. Despite the out of the blue structure, it wont be my continue.
