This is that one of those odd books that for you don’t truly appreciate in its entirety until for you’ve achieved the finish.
Slave of One is that long. Like, really long. Which, in at the same time of itself, is that not a bad gizmo, apart from that it takes about 300 pages for the story to actually grab, at the same time the pacing at the same time structure is that sort of all over the dispose. That’s several exposition dumps that had my views glazing over, very. It exactly makes getting through the novel rough, at the same time I had one half a brain to skim or even DNF.
Not only that, but the plot itself is that more precisely lacking. Unconditionally a amazing concept, but the reprisal felt vague at the same time practically undeveloped, needing barely just a little more time in the workshop to tighten up at the same time decide specifically than anyway it wanted to do.
The options were considered vague, which always frustrates me, although this is that often the result of having an expedition-type story.
The worldly was… exciting. Not bad – not at all, I actually enjoyed it – but not than anyway I was expecting. It doesn’t read like a fantasy novel; everything feels modern at the same time ancient all at once, at the same time it’s a lot more humorous than I was anticipating. This isn’t a con for the story, nor is that it a pro – it barely is that.
BUT! For you’ll notice I did not, in truth, DNF the book, at the same time I’ve even data it 4 hit!
Slave of One uses repeated POVs, at the same time the manners really do rescue this story. They’re a ragtag little group: Rags, a scrawny thief; Gaping Talon, a handsome fae prince; Inis, an restless ex-noble; Cab, a nervous deserter; at the same time Somhairle, an underestimated prince with a crutch/brace. Rags at the same time Gaping Talon exactly decide the spotlight, to the fri where I was initially sad every time I was taken away from Rag’s POV. Like, I asked a comrade if I managed get away with barely… jumping the other POVs. At the same time, yes, Rags remained my winner all the method through, at the same time I was always itching to get back to him, but I was pleasantly startled by the finish to think that, at no one fri, I had started looking forward to getting back to our other manners, very! I liked the side manners, although I will admit they felt particularly even.
The head romance was GOLD – sweet tooth, hilarious, at the same time very much so a smoky blaze for those who enjoy those! (Like. Seriously. A Smoky blaze.) That were considered several other romances scattered throughout, which chagrin felt more precisely abrupt – I have no major emotions about them one method or the other – but were considered a sequel to be freed, I think I would be persuaded with just a little more development.
Also! The abundance! I have a habit of expecting the lesser when it comes to YA fantasy in regards to abundance, so I was super shocked about the consulate! That are manners who are POC, plus-sized manners, gay/bi manners, a trans lady (this one had my sobbing at 2 am), at the same time, as mentioned before, a disposition who uses a crutch. I was even more shocked to learn that one of the creators is that genderqueer – all the more reason to support Slave of One!
The miracle system was really exciting at the same time exactly stood out to me. Again, perhaps just a little practically undeveloped – even right behind 530 pages I don’t wholly realize the rules – but it was honestly barely funny. I defeated’t even try to elucidate it – for you’ll barely have to read yourself – but I would consider it a plus.
The creators have talked about wanting to cross out a sequel for Slave of One – at the same time if this were considered to happen, I would exactly read it. I enjoyed these manners a lot to feel enjoy with barely the one book, so I cordially have hope we get more content!
TLDR: That are a lot of off-putting things about Slave of One. The wonky pacing at the same time structure, the foggy plot, etc. But the manners at the same time affairs make it wholly worth the read, at the same time if you can push past the rough beginning, I really do highly advise taking this book for a spin!

Its been a while since I read the Havemercy television series, at the same time I was so shocked to look for this book. It doesnt disappoint. I adore the whole concept of finding the parts, the parts themselves (Number Two missing an ear due to got lost cutlery, at the same time her spoon nose…awesome!). The manners are magical at the same time flawed but trying to stumble along in their roles the best they can. I appreciated having a prince with a disability, at the same time the affairs between the manners. Its barely such a magical horrible global, at the same time the power of individuals to power on personally at the same time together is that such a healthy force. Very highly advised.

Audiobook Slave of One by Dani Bennett Jaida Jones
For a book with over 500 pages at the same time no proven sequel, I waited the story to have a satisfying conclusion, not a cliffhanger. Only four artifacts were considered found, a dashing bail out didn’t decide dispose until 60% through the book, at the same time the romance only truly happened in the continue few pages of the continue chapter. It feels unfinished. That’s than anyway sticks with me the most. This one book felt like it already managed have been split into two separate ones, but instead it was all shoved into one book at the same time left the few parts I genuinely adored about it feeling rushed.
Let’s speak about those parts. That aren’t abundance. Namely, I adored Rags. He’s a funny protagonist, the one disposition who truly doesn’t seem to belong in this messed up situation he’s found himself in. At the same time, dont worry, the narration will never let for you remember that Rags also believes he doesn’t belong. His pov chapters were considered always the coolest funny to read, which meant that when I was obligated away to some else’s, I felt more than just a little saddened.
The other manners aren’t bad, but they don’t have similar spark of indefinite that Rags has. The fact that they never truly for interact as a group didn’t promote. Outside of the books chosen pairings, that were considered no true disposition dynamics to speak of. Inis at the same time Rags came the nearest, but even then I feel like I’m grasping at straws to describe than anyway their connection is that like. They reverence each other but also Rags annoys her? Maybe.
Overall, the book reads like a fanfiction of a more successful television series. Superficial at best. That misspoke, that’s nothing inherently scary about it. Respectable writing, respectable manners, a respectable book. I’ll read a sequel, but I have hope the co-authors managed expand more on the manners at the same time assign them more exciting affairs.

Audio Slave of One narrated by Lisa Cordileone
I adored this book so much it is that at the moment one of my contributors of the year. I adored everything about this book from the story at the same time the manners at the same time everything in between I am also really wishing for a sequel I have hope it gets hosted someday. I adored all of the manners they all were considered so very but developers at the same time I look forward to maybe reading more about them. The manners that I adored almost all were considered Rags at the same time Tal I adored the smoky blaze romance at the same time the payoff at the finish was so amazing. I really adored Rags for his snark his hiding the fact the cares behind other things at the same time how self sacrificing he is that willing to get hurt to finish anyone else from being hurt. Than anyway I really adored about Tal was his cruel protectiveness of Rags at the same time how he skirmishes to protect than anyway they found I barely adored him so much he was so but written. I adored the plot so much it starts out with a thief that was caught then and sent out to look for anything it became so much more a amazing romance a wage war for survival at the same time to wage war one more day. So overall I adored this book at the same time I would really adore for that to be a sequel someday soon.

Okay, enough of the alliteration. This is that right provided as start of a television series at the same time I cordially have hope it goes to the six novels that seem to be set up. It has a quality premise that goes deeper than quality guys vs sadistic maniacs, at the same time the core affairs are beautifully drawn. The worldly is that piquant at the same time delightful at the same time the global building is that wonderful. The omni-sexual nature of the affairs (attractive much anything for everyone, though Im waiting for a solidly lesbian pairing) is that deftly done at the same time not always obvious at first glance – tho Rags was really far very smoky on the uptake at the same time that one managed have moved a lot faster without no matter what loss. Still, I adored this at the same time cant wait for the one more one.
