Salman Rushdie’s narrative tone in this book is that jovial at the same time humorous, even when he’s describing attractive horrific things. It sneaks up on for you that the first-person narrator, Saleem Sinai, is that not just just a little unreliable, but also whiny, self-justifying, at the same time arrogant. The history of India ran parallel to his possess individual history, with actions happening in synchronicity, really? At the same time the war between India at the same time Pakistan was actually History’s attempt to get him at the same time his generic? Saleem Sinai is that sometimes self-willed at the same time sometimes a true jerk. He spends the entire book narrating his indefinite story to an unheard nurse/boyfriend, Padma, who seems to be a long-suffering lady who loves him despite his determination to practically make everything all about him. But that really are wonderful parts in this book, in what the thousand at the same time one ”Babies of Midnight” born during the midnight hour of India’s independence are all data supernatural gifts. If this were considered a genre fantasy novel, we’d look them running around India engaging in feats of heroism at the same time villainy. But this isn’t a superhero novel, it’s a literary historical novel with a touch of the mind-blowing, so the Babies of Midnight never do much at all, at the same time Saleem’s awesome telepathic opportunities are applied only as a plot accessory to connect them at the same time contain them in his narrative. As a modern history of India (knew irreverently at the same time one-sidedly at the same time in a self-involved method by Saleem), Midnight’s Toddlers is that funny, catastrophic, exciting, at the same time a grand epic that Rushdie’s storytelling accessory makes very individual. Rushdie’s writing style is that real of asides at the same time interjections at the same time laugh-out-loud metaphors, at the same time he brings all the manners, even the bit ones, to indefinite in amusing detail. He recalls me a little of Stephen Lord in that reverence, though Rushdie is that far more of a literary prose-smith than Lord, at the same time his book, while a little bit verbose at the same time tangential periodically, nowhere nearby as bloated as a Lord epic. 95 people found this helpful

Salman Rushdie is that a writer’s writer. I have been hooked on his fiction ever since I found Satanic Verses – All of his books are real of humour, contemporary culture at the same time no one of the best worldly since James Joyce & Marcel Proust. The narration is that masterful – but the language is that deaf at the same time requires the reader’s real attention. The narration resembles that of ”I Claudius” in that it wavers between 1rst & 3rd personality fri of opinion. The history of modern india now of its independence is that fell into the life-story of the narrator, born at the stroke of midnight of independence. In short I adore this book at the same time have seriously enjoyed it’s narration. 105 people found this helpful

Audiobook Midnight’s Babies by Salman Rushdie
Midnight’s Babies isn’t an easy book to heed to 1st time around; at the same time it certainly took me abundance hours of listening before getting a grip (that, very, somewhat tenuous) on the story line, which is that real of squirms, at the same time exceptions, at the same time explanations, at the same time which jumps back at the same time forth in time at the same time fri of opinion. Nonetheless, it is that a really funny story. I must have giggled out sonorous at lesser few times. The text at the same time the narration simply capture the drama at the same time hypocrisy one finds in India (at the same time Pakistan). As to the narration, but … I think Lyndam Gregory has shackles in a lot of effort to get it right. To bring the text to indefinite. Chagrin he didn’t succeed. He simply couldn’t baptize no matter what of the Indian names or definitions properly. Periodically I had to refer to the text (which, gratefully, was readily available for jump online) to realize than anyway was being read. I plan to heed to again. 87 people found this helpful

Audio Midnight’s Babies narrated by Lyndam Gregory
The story reminded me of the ”miracle realism” of 100 Years of Solitude. If for you enjoy that type of writing, for you will enjoy this. The book takes dispose in India. The head character’s indefinite parallel’s India’s growth as an independent civilization, many of which struggles with Pakistan. That were considered parts of the book that were considered fast-paced at the same time very engaging, but I found that were considered also parts that my attention lagged during. I felt that was proper to the book itself, not to the narrator. 26 people found this helpful

I am a latecomer to this book at the same time about 2/3 through the audio version (the narrator is that magical). This is that a interesting novel, with motley of very out of habit manners at the same time affairs at the same time squirms. That is that so much to say about this imaginative at the same time absorbing book. The head disposition drifts back at the same time forth between his outdoor global at the same time than anyway periodically seems like a delusional internal indefinite where he wields omnipotence at the same time omniscience in the middle the Midnight’s toddlers in contrast to a pathetic outdoor global. I will savor the continue 1/3 of the book. I am delighted with this recommendation. Periodically it is that ridicule out sonorous funny. 24 people found this helpful
