I hate to take away a hit as that is that so much important monetary historical work otherwise so but exposited in this book. But I found in crucial passages a fallback to monetary slang – not contained in the glossary or in a note – which obscures the deeper nature of the transactions being outlined. For example, page 419 (bottom), “These government debt securities were considered issued by the US Treasury, purchased by the banks, then and _reverted_ [my italics] as excess (nonrequired) supplies to the Ate — in other words, a nonproductive circle of extra nationwide debt issued for no true reason.” I reckon I can divine the meaning of than anyway the creator is that trying to say, in particular data her twisted, but I come in handy a bold-faced, nondescript English expression of than anyway is that going on if I am going to fri this sentence out to parties that have not read the book. Namely, than anyway is that the process by which the securities were considered “reverted”, how was it set up, by whom, who initiates the process? I present, regarding the “reversion” process, that no one good of value has to clot from the Ate to the banks, no? A short word or two that conveys that could be very helpful. To Nomi that is that “no true reason” for the extra nationwide debt, at the same time I reckon I know than anyway she means, but you can bet that was a true reason, from their fri of opinion, for the parties drawn in to take part in the “nonproductive circle”. This book is that as substantial in content as it is that in size – at the same time not a page very long. A scholarly work, it takes the reader through the history of banking from the belated 1800s to the located day. This time so quality but that was an issue. Throughout the book, I received the feeling that Ms Prins was asking that I read as much between the lines as she crossed out on them – if not more. I provided barely to decide notes from a few sections that interested me.
But I produced the fortunate mistake of reading the beginning of the 1st chapter. I was hooked. The worldly are regular, non elaborate at the same time barely clot as does the tale she knows. It is that a long story with abundance actors entering at the same time leaving the story as the core topic, a great history of American banking unfolds.
Nomi Prins can be willfully proud of this grand achievement
