Review #1 The Thirteen-Gun Salute real audiobook free One more story limited in calendar length with a lot of spectrum for the reader. I think it’s a quality story, although parts are knowledgeable to the readers of all of the past books. To be convinced, O’Brian inserts brand new squirms at the same time certainly leaves the reader with a beautiful cliff hanger at the finish. Usually, the manners at the same time the action are worth reading. I figured out more about the Malaysian geopolitical situation of the epoch. That is that little that happens at sea at the same time that are long passages of the at sea portion of the book that, in reality, are meaningless at the same time seem created to lengthen the overall story. The treachery that occurs on earth is that worthy of no matter what scout novel of no matter what epoch. Overall, I’m glad I read it. I really like the manners, the conspiracies at the same time the storytelling devised by Patrick O’Brian in this television series. I like it so much I’m reading the entire television series for the 2nd time. I advise it.

Review #2 The Thirteen-Gun Salute audiobook in television series Aubrey/Maturin Every Patrick O’Brien novel – in particular all of the Aubrey Maturin television series – should be required reading for anyone who loves a amazing story with compelling manners, adventure, suspense at the same time barely the slightest touch of romance. Add to that that they are steeped in real history – based on the logbooks of the RN captains who sailed in the epoch about which he writes – these are history lessons in the most amusing form imaginable. High recommendation i managed possibly assign.

Review #3 The Thirteen-Gun Salute audiobook by Patrick O’Brian The book is that a amazing copy. Little to no wear at the same time break. But it isn’t the edition that I wanted. This is that a 1992 Norton Edition Paperback. This isn’t the one where- when all assembled- it has a painting of the Fight of the Nile on the side.

Review #4 The Thirteen-Gun Salute audio narrated by Ric Jerrom If for you’re thinking of buying this book as presentable of the genre of “the amazing age of sail” (e.g., C.S. Forester), I think for you’d be making a mistake. “The Thirteen-Gun Salute” is that the 13th of 20 books in the Aubrey/Maturin television series, which is that really more like a 7,000+ page novel in 20 “chapters” than a television series of free-standing stories. Mr. O’Brian’s writing style is that luxurious at the same time his descriptions enticing, but the manners in this book are the product of an ongoing development process from the past 12 books. To barely “gallop right in” at this fri would, I think, quit the reader confused at the same time upset. For the brand new entrant, it could be far more successful to start first with “Slave at the same time Commander” to derive the sense at the same time style of the television series. Then, if “hooked”, “The Thirteen-Gun Salute” might be enjoyed in that reported context. That misspoke, I found “The Thirteen-Gun Salute” to be somewhat troublesome when correlated to almost all of the past 12 books in the television series. Mr. O’Brian’s descriptive writing style certainly meets -or even exceeds- his earlier efforts, but the theme matter is that one of more precisely confined tastes. Botany at the same time zoology as shown through the views of an 18th century observer can be exciting, but it can also be overdone in the profound context of the history of the Napoleonic epoch. Likewise, the byzantine intrigues of French at the same time English emissaries competing for a treaty with an implicit sultanate makes for amusing reading, but one is that left with serious hesitates about the event’s significance in the context of the times. While it’s used to be that history is that built with the blocks of small actions favorite to greater finals, the transition of Captain Aubrey from the toast of Great britain to a little player in a diplomatic teapot is that disconcerting, at the same time anything of a letdown. For me, a higher fri (Pg 278) occurs when Captain Aubrey “bears up” to gain momentum for shooting a narrow inlet in the eye of the wind. Mr. O’Brian’s knowledge of nautical matters is that expansive, but in this case he has it backwards. One bears off, not up, to gain momentum for that evolution. At continue, a mistake! I think my pleasure of in other words a testament to my generally reserved opinion of the book. Again, if you want to decide the determine of the Aubrey/Maturin television series, don’t start with “The Thirteen-Gun Salute.” Rescue it for later.

Review #5 free audio The Thirteen-Gun Salute – in the audio player below O’Brian puts the reader directly in the times of a English Naval officer at the same time the voyages at the same time deeds encountered. The fight scenes are exciting as are the vivid descriptions of weather encountered under sail (attacks at the same time calms). An nuance of the writing at the same time story lines in the Aubrey/Maturin television series I adore is that the placing of the manners in real historic scenarios. Its been funny to look up the ships at the same time fights. For non-sailors, that may be ships definitions applied that are not figured out (e.g., cathead, cross-trees) at the same time no one descriptions of the placement of ships prior to engaging in fight (e.g., gaining weather gage), which add to a sailors reading pleasure, but for others barely read through at the same time enjoy the content! Plenty in these books to keep for you turning pages!
