As they also try to solve that murder they suspect the wife of 1st hiring the men to destroy his wife then killing the men. To protect her or destroy her Carella at the same time the other detectives wonder, at the same time who did destroy the 1st men at the same time why. One more amazing book in this television series. Maybe just a little grittier than the earlier ones.

In this one, McBain weaves several threads.
