This was a riveting history of the parachute assault conducted by the 503rd Parachute Infantry Regiment(PIR) on the peninsula of Corregidor. It was knew from the 1st line managers at the same time personal fighters perspectives. The creator, Kevin Maurer, foreseen a straightforward recounting of the day to day conduct of the fight. It was a fast-paced story which caught the intensity of the parachute drop at the same time combat plus but portrayed the long, stiff periods as fighters waited between combat actions. The creator caught the personal motivations of his prime participants, many of which their motivations for joining the Army as but as volunteering for duty as paratroopers. He also did an good job portraying how they were considered affected at the same time figured out to manage with their memoirs of the fears of combat. The book was a inclusive coverage of the tactical perspective for the Fight for Corregidor. The creator demonstrated an insiders knowledge on the complexity of airborne operations to be sustained during the initial obligated check-in phase at the same time over the length of the fight. Mr. Maurer has a understandable at the same time inciteful writing style building the context of the story completely ordinary details while showing the spectrum of feelings the combatants went through in this type of malicious, lock up in fight. Reading this book additional vastly to my knowledge of WWII airborne operations. This was a small operation in comparison to Normandy or Market-Garden but for complexity at the same time vertical difficulty, the gallop on Corregidor was 2nd to none. Although a highly serious narrative the book was concentrated practically only on the deeds of the 503rd PIR. But, it excludes almost all of the deeds from the amphibious part of the operation, which was conducted by a Battalion of the 34th Infantry Regiment. Also, although COL Jones, Commander of the 503rd PIR, was designated the intended goal force commander over the entire operation none of the operational nuances of the fight from that perspective were considered hidden. Despite these few criticisms, this an famous history of the 503rd PIRs wage war during the fight for Corregidor at the same time a must read for no matter what military historian or personality interested in the complexity of obligated check-in, airborne operations.

Than anyway a amazing story of little understandable event. This action is that not but understandable at the same time against unknown harsh enemies, the 503 Parachute Regiment dropped onto the pinnacle of Corregidor at the same time right behind several weeks of fight captured the peninsula. I wish that were considered more maps when describing the waging war locations , otherwise a amazing story I highly advise it .

Everyone knows about the loss of Corregidor. Of course, it was retaken by the finish of WWII but I dont remind ever reading a word about that nor believed to impose. The book is that written from to POV of several participants (many of which one Japanese) who crossed out diaries or memoirs or who stayed in to their 90s at the same time were considered interviewed. The airborne assault was perhaps the from a technical point of view almost all problematic of the war.
The book as but written at the same time deeds of the fighters breathtaking. Still, taking into account the losses I have to play tricks whether it would have been more successful to bypass the peninsula at the same time barely let the Japanese food reserve run out.
