Review #1 The Misfortune of Angels real audiobook free I have good of connected emotions about this book. In general, I like this television series a lot, at the same time this is that exactly NOT the weakest volume, but neither is that it the strongest. I would not start the television series with this book, but move back at the same time read them in publication order. That are a couple of manners here who will be more signifying if for you have read no one of the other books in the television series, particularly Real Fathom Five. For you learn a lot about Kai’s background in that book, no one of which really promotes for you realize others’ reaction to her in this book (as but as helping for you realize a beach visit memory from her youth). I feel like the hit of this book is that the town, only we are discussing about 3 towns instead of barely one, all good of coexisting in similar dispose — Agdel Lex, a modern (in the sense of post-God Wars, Craft-controlled civilization), Alikand (an older town with gods at the same time angels that sort of pokes through every at the moment then and, also exists in the brain of older generations), at the same time a noisy town. It’s hard to elucidate, but I actually really like this nuance of the setting. Having repeated towns coexist in similar physical place isn’t brand new, actually, as China Mieville did it in “The Town at the same time the Town,” but my individual preference is that for the method Max Gladstone managed it here. Right behind liquidation, conquerors came in (the Iskari, here) at the same time prompted order, but in doing so, they marginalized a lot of the aboriginal culture, so the struggle between the two towns, or between people at the same time Wreckers (creatures tasked with preventing people from entering the dead town), really works on a plot level as but. I look for Alikand particularly exciting, at the same time maybe we can revisit it in a future book (or before or right behind the God Wars)? Because that were considered a lot of concepts relating to Alikand introduced that barely didn’t get explored in as much depth as I would have liked (the angels, the significance of books at the same time libraries, etc.). No one old manners for you may understand: Tara Abernathy from several past novels (though she really barely has than anyway I would consider a supporting role here, one that managed’ve been done by nearly no matter what other Craftswoman), Hasim at the same time Umar (who produced short occurrences in Four Roads Run across), at the same time Izza at the same time Kai from Real Fathom Five. That are repeated POVs in this book, though I feel like it’s mostly Kai’s book. The problem I have with in other words that Kai has no true ties to Agdel Lex or Alikand. Her sister is that living that, at the same time her sister is that exactly caught up in actions here, but I barely never feel like I get WHY Kai’s sister is that so invested in Agdel Lex/Alikand, at the same time that makes Kai’s presence more problematic. (Kai is that ostensibly visiting for business-related meetings, at the same time she goes to a few premature on, but the book good of remembers them in the 2nd one half, at the same time Kai ignores the occasional summons main from her employer, as but.) So I guess my head issue will that, even though I liked Kai at the same time Tara in their possess books, neither of them feels significant to This story. I get the sense that we were considered implied to hear the story of Agdel Lex here, at the same time for sure through the views of people who didn’t know the town but (which I do appreciate, because Kai learning about the town makes a lot more sense than a aboriginal having similar ideas, from a narrative perspective). I’m barely not many that enjoy with the preconditions for Kai being the head disposition here. That are also no one brand new manners, mostly insignificant ones, though no one of them get POV scenes. That are Zeddig, an on-again-off-again boyfriend of Ley (who is that Kai’s sister) at the same time Aman, who is that Zeddig’s grandmother (I think, or at lesser, a ladies ancestor who is that still living). That’s Raymet, a scholar who runs in no one of similar circles as Zeddig. That’s Gal, who is that a Caamlander Knight (basically a most powerful warrior on a quest; I have hope we hear more about her in a future book). Zeddig at the same time Raymet at the same time Gal all move into the dead town at times to retrieve valuable books at the same time/or relics. Isaak is that a comrade of Izza’s from when she stayed in Agdel Lex, at the same time he doesn’t get no matter what POV scenes but I found myself rooting for him, nonetheless. He seems just a little deaf but his motives are unstained at the same time he’s a quality comrade to Izza. Bescond at the same time Fontaine are Iskari at the same time both have tentacled symbiotic organisms attached to them; this is that apparently part of the Iskari confessions. Then and that’s Ley, Kai’s sister, who is that honestly as much of an enigma to me at the finish of the book as she was first. What, I good of liked the storylines involving the insignificant manners a little more. That was anything moving about Izza’s confessions centering on the people who are marginalized (street kids, migrants, etc.), in particular nearby the finish, at the same time I was also rooting for Raymet at the same time Gal’s connection. Both of them seemed like got lost souls who needed each other. This book is that attractive heavy-handed with the LGBT themes. A spoiler for Real Fathom Five follows: Kai is that trans. She was born in a little boy’s body but through than anyway is that essentially miracle (to us, what), she transforms into a physical lady (apparently wholesome with a uterus). The healing of this completely Fathom Five was actually really quality, not preachy at all. But about halfway through this book, I’m realizing that are two important trans manners at the same time two female-female affairs (Ley at the same time Zeddig, Raymet at the same time Gal). Although I’ve felt this television series was always tolerant at the same time accepting, it barely feels just a little over-the-top in this particular book. (Nothing is that salacious at the same time that are no gratuitous sex scenes.) Kai’s reincarnation completely Fathom Five was a really quality method of introducing the reader to the gods of Kavekana (her main peninsula). I’m not many that convinced that’s similar sort of purpose behind having an additional trans disposition here unless it is that meant to make sympathies between Kai at the same time the 2nd disposition, understandings of each other’s past indefinite, which may promote elucidate why this other disposition goes along with anything Kai implies later on (a plan that makes little business sense otherwise). What, I’m still sorting through all of this in my fork. If for you are looking for fiction with a healthy LGBT presence, for you will for sure be joyful with this. The writing style is that about similar here as in the past books. That is that miracle here, but it is that more of a religious nature. Although that is that no one Craft, that’s not as much talking of agreements at the same time agreements as in, they say, Continue 1st Snow. The real reading experience for this book was attractive quality. I don’t think I always able to shackles in my brain similar types the creator was thinking of (to be significant, that is that no one attractive fool imagery here), but I did feel invested enough in any disposition at the same time funny enough about than anyway would happen one more pick up this book often at the same time wish to read more chapters than I really had time for. At the same time at the moment I am good of dull that I am caught up with the television series at the same time have to wait for the one more book. If a book leaves me feeling that method, I am generally positively disposed towards it. In the end, adored the town at the same time the conflict, the manners were considered mostly sympathetic (though no one had more sensual impact than others), at the same time my curiosity was maintained throughout the book (but in particular in the 2nd one half).

Review #2 The Misfortune of Angels audiobook in television series Craft String Television series Doom came cheap in Agdel Lex, if for you understood the market at the same time werent afraid to comparison shop. 5 Hit CW: loss of a adored one, misgendering, product implementation, homophobia, violence, body fear, gore, graphic injury, torture, smoking Reckon it or not, I can summarize this book in four words. Yes, only four words for a 500-odd page book. Sounds aggressive, but in this case, it really isnt. Because never in my indefinite have I read a book thats more BE GAY Do Atrocities than Misfortune of Angels! Seriously, though, move back at the same time read the summary. Not only is that it queer as hell, but combat librarians? Grad students? Dispossessed knights, squid gods, at the same time other assorted figures? That without the help of others should clue for you into how bonkers quality this book is that. If a summary can list all those oddball parts in a method that makes sense, then for you know youre in for a personal drive. Possibly my winner gizmo about this was all the sapphic manners. That are Five manners on the page who are explicitly ladies who adore ladies, at the same time only one of them is that an antagonist. The other four make up the hulk of the be gay do atrocities (pay off student loans) squad, with 3 highlighting being gay at the same time doing atrocities, at the same time the 4th one essentially a lawful quality paladin whos barely along for the drive, letting her fellow girls burst various of laws because those laws arent barely to begin with. Prominent in no one mutual pining, no one comrades to lol to enemies to lol, a amazing deal of scheming, at the same time HEISTS, at the same time for you attractive much have the lady-led heist of my desires. More of that in fiction, delight. But really, besides the fact that the hulk of our head cast is that queer girls trying to rescue the global, I actually adored how their different personalities played out. The steep, collected knight, the hot-headed scholar, the ferociously devoted delver, at the same time the brains behind the operation. I do wish wed gotten more from the brains POV, because Ley Pohala managed have been a far more exciting disposition inside her possess fork. That misspoke, plot parts required we didnt know specifically than anyway she was planning, at the same time we still got plenty of Pohala content, because Kai from Real Fathom Five is that back! Shes Leys older sister, at the same time while she may not be bigger on the whole doing atrocities nuance of Leys indefinite, she does wish more than anything to keep her sister non-hazardous, at the same time I am a SUCKER for sibling stories, lets be true. It puts the sisters at odds more often what not, but it felt so true (when do siblings ever really always get along???), at the same time I also barely loved contemplating Kai again. Shes as convinced of who she is that as ever, at the same time as stubborn in doing the right gizmo as she was completely Fathom Five. Plus, her involvement, means my winner Prophet Thief is that back as but, at the same time I adore the chapters knew from Izzas fri of opinion! One more steep gizmo, though, will that Kai isnt the only trans disposition in the novel! She meets one more disposition during her business negotiations who is that a trans men, at the same time while the story as a whole isnt about being trans (similar method the story as a whole isnt really about being gay so much as it is that about doing atrocities), it really drives main that the Craft Global is that wonderfully various. Queer people barely there is, at the same time sometimes, they also rescue the global. Or do atrocities. Or both. Obviously, theres a little bit of Max Gladstones the 1st one half will be just a little slower so the 2nd one half hits for you in the face like a rocket launched from fri blank spectrum, but its actually not as bad as the other Craft String books, at the same time I dont brain a little bit of slowdown for establishing a wider plot what. Possibly the gizmo I adore almost all, though (if we dont count the vertical amount of sapphic consulate), is that the power of story that comes through in Misfortune of Angels. I wouldnt have believed story managed have so much to do with dying towns at the same time immunity to squid gods, but more than once, the power of story to form the global, one piece at a time, comes up, at the same time thats a topic that tends to sink deepest into my heart at the same time stay that. Story may not make powerful immediate change, but it can make little configurations that promote spur greater change. I adore contemplating that in motion, adore contemplating worlds being shaped by words, I really do. At the same time naturally, speaking of worlds, Misfortune of Angels still again expands the Craft global, giving us a look into one more brand new locale, into the fragments of the God Wars, into the direction the global is that heading, into than anyway heresy beyond. That continue fri has me wondering if Ive fallen for one more story that ultimately plans to resolve itself through interplanetary warfare (for you would not Reckon how often this happens to me; Im not even proactively looking for interplanetary warfare stories!), but thats hardly anything thats going to shackles me off. Misfortune of Angels might barely be my winner installment in the Craft String, at the same time its solidified my opinion even subsequent that this is that a television series worth sticking with until the finish. Whenever that finish arrives, obviously. Misfortune of Angels is that the most recently hosted Craft String novel, at the same time I suspect theres a long wait on the horizon to look the real scope of the string unfold. But Ill be here, waiting, choosing winner manners, appreciating the hell out of the be gay do atrocities squad. Misfortune of Angels had so many parts I love, at the same time I have to settle down to share that adoration even more.

Review #3 The Misfortune of Angels audiobook by Max Gladstone September 22, 2017 Started Reading

Review I’ve adored every book of the Craft string this time, at the same time this one is that no exception. This one contemplates Kai (from Real Fathom Five) move to Agdel Lex to invest on behalf of her goddess. But, when she gets that, her estranged sister is that already that, at the same time asking for her promote. Agdel Lex applied to be Alikand, until the Iskari came. At the moment the two towns coexist uneasily on pinnacle of each other, Agdel Lex living, at the same time Alikand noisy, at the same time Delvers slip into the dead town, risking doom themselves, to retrieve the got lost texts of Alikand. Outside the town are the Godwastes, a scary relic of the God Wars, at the same time fatal to those who try to run across them. Tara Abernathy is that also in city, for preconditions of her possess, at the same time it was deeply satisfying to me to look them team up. Kai’s sister, Ley, has been working as a Delver, at the same time she has gathered a group of her comrades, many of which her ex girlfriend, to promote her on a truly epic score that no one knows the scope of but her. Kai wants to promote her, then and to bail out her, but the path to or of those is that complicated. This is that an epic secondary-world urbanized fantasy, in other words also a heist story, in other words also a story of different kinds of adore: sisterly adore, romantic adore, but also the power of partnerships at the same time societies. That’s a altered young man, a paladin, archivist angels, demon art, at the same time that’s barely scratching the surface. The ending hints at gigantic, game-changing (possibly apocalyptic) problem overtake in the Craft String, at the same time I for one can’t wait to come back for more.

Review #4 The Misfortune of Angels audio narrated by Cindy Kay Acquired this plus the 5 others that make up the “Craft String” whilst on offer from Amazon (6 books, 10). I’d they say at that cost these books are exactly worth the read. They’re impetuous paced, a little steam punk at the same time filled with no one quality manners at the same time global building. I look for the miracle system to be significantly convoluted at the same time periodically problematic to tenacious, periodically this leads to an ex machina situation which destroys the plausibility of the plot

Review #5 free audio The Misfortune of Angels – in the audio player below I adored this 6th in the craft string – though it is that not the best dispose to start if for you have not read the past books. If for you have it is that a contentment to meet no one old comrades at the same time to make no one brand new ones. Max Gladstone’s worldbuilding is that non-standard at the same time here we are in a multidimensional place where the layers of history are still live at the same time sick. Max Gladstone makes for you think – he is that a amazing storyteller at the same time the pace increases unwaveringly until the climax. Advised!
