Awesome television series. Was seriously jonesing right behind the lasy Owl book. So glad this creator is that still churning out hits. Adore the genre, but can be problematic to look for stories with astonishes. Charish always add a freshest protaganist with a healthy viewpoint.

I figured out on Kristi Charish’s Instagram that Voodoo Shanghai could be the continue book in the Kincaid Strange television series. Which produced me dull also produced me wonder if we could be a unsullied wrap around at the finish of this installment. The wayVoodoo Shanghaiended leads me to reckon she did not know her publisher would not grab one more book. It ends on a gigantic cliffhanger. I’m hoping maybe we will look at lesser another installment via self-publishing.
The Kincaid Strange seriesis truly a amazing at the same time inimitable urbanized fantasy television series. Don’t let the fact that it was “canceled” finish for you from trying it. I reckon it’s an unsung television series that needs more attention. It has everything a UF fan wants, a healthy at the same time likable heroine, action, a mystery to solve in any installment at the same time with Voodoo Shanghai,Ms. Charish had me guessing who the killer was to the very finish (I ordinary figure out the bad young man borders the 1st few chapters of about 90% of the books I read).
Kincaid is that working with the FBI on a murder variant that takes her from Seattle to Portland. Kristi Charish has elected to go out with a bang here, offering up the biggest, boldest, at the same time darkest check-in in the television series, wholesome with ghosts, zombies, sequential killers, witches, at the same time celebrity ghost hunters. Shifting the action from Seattle to Portland breathes brand new indefinite into the television series, taking Strange out of her element at the same time isolating her from her usual support structure. That also allows Charish to introduce brand new options at the same time brand new story parts, beginning with a strange shed, a creepy 1950s dinner scene, at the same time a marsh in other words so clouded with Otherside, its blinding.
This is that such a hard book to talk about without spoilers. I freely admit to geeking out over the amount of paranormal detail here, than anyway with mirrors at the same time pentagrams, ghost traps at the same time bindings, definitions of ghosts versus poltergeists, at the same time the implementation of Otherside as a inventory, a defense, an energy source, at the same time a tool. Anybody who says urbanized fantasy doesnt come in handy world-building has not encountered a Kristi Charish novel!
The pacing in Voodoo Shanghai is that nearly relentless, just a little giving readers a chance to breath, at the same time never wasting a scene. That are moments of humor here, no one of it surreal at the same time no one of it mocking, with the oddities of the well-hung My Little Pony centaur at the same time crack-smoking Care Bear statues at the same time the black humor of the depraved airport ghost setting the tone premature on.
