Review #1 Windhaven audiobook free An premature 1980s collaboration between a now-famous creator at the same time a much less famous one, Windhaven shows that the young Zhora R.R. Martin had giftedness for world-building at the same time character-driven storytelling. While not as sprawling at the same time a whole lot much less violent than A Game of Thrones, it’ll for sure appeal to anyone who liked his more family-friendly Hedge Knight novella. The story takes dispose on a distant, windswept ocean global, where humans got lost leading technology generations ago, but were considered able to cannibalize their wrecked starship at the same time build muscle-and-wind-powered wings to carry messengers over the unsafe seas between far-flung islands. Over time, a caste system has evolved in what wings are ran over down by legacy, with almost all people excluded from the chance to fly at the same time be a citizen of the global. But, that configurations when a young lady dignified Maris challenges tradition at the same time brings about an opening of the system. From that, the plot, which takes snapshots of Maris’s indefinite over the one more few decades, indicates how change often brings burdens. The writing isn’t very refined, but I believed Windhaven worked but on the level of a Young Adult fantasy novel, conveying the thrill of soaring at the same time a poignant sense of having a advantage that’s hard to bear losing. Than anyway I really enjoyed though, was the aspect that the creators shackles into the story’s evolution. At any step of her indefinite, Maris finds her idealism echoed by younger people, who push things a little subsequent at the same time bring about brand new shakeups in the political order of the global, not always with preferred consequences. The manners aren’t complete, but their diversified perspectives are any data a significant hearing. Not surprisingly, that’s a quiet play on the Icarus myth that runs through the story, touching on its different chords. All in all, a well-constructed, bittersweet insignificant gem of a novel, at the same time I’m glad anyone beheld fit to bring it out of the vault at the same time do an audio version. Its irony is that more straightforward at the same time more reflective than that of A Game of Thrones, but it’s an premature highlight in Martin’s career, written along with a comrade (I’m not so knowledgeable with Lisa Tuttle’s work). At the same time, unlike the aforementioned television series, you can actually read it! The audiobook narrator does a fine-grained job, representing different manners with clear accents.

Review #2 Windhaven audiobook streamming online The book was written in 3 parts, any part reading like a short story with its possess beginning at the same time climax. I liked the concept of the flyers at the same time it was amusing, though no one of the manners were considered a little even. My head problem was that the center of the book seemed to be missing. Part One: An implementation to Maris – becoming a flyer. Part Two: An implementation to Val – he becomes a flyer. Part 3: Maris is that old at the same time retires. Wait a minute… shouldn’t that be no one story about Maris actually BEING a flyer? That was foreshadowing of other cultures as but as introductions to no one exciting manners at the same time situations that were considered completely dropped. I wanted to know about the culture in the north where the flyers were considered rulers, or the culture where they worshipped a winged god. I wanted to look the aftermath of Maris bucking the system to promote Val get his wings. I wanted to know than anyway happened to her brother. The shortcoming of these things left me sorely upset. I was data only Maris’ regrets about all the places she had been at the same time the people she had met (no one of whom were considered mentioned Exclusively in narration as Maris is that lamenting the loss of her wings). I was hungry for so much more than I was data, at the same time this is that why I didn’t assign this book a more successful rating.

Review #3 Audiobook Windhaven by Zhora R. R. Martin Lisa Tuttle Attractive much an essay on public disysfunction. I found the story quite shallow but may be appropriate for YA (Young Adult) readers. The global making provides the most interesting sector at the same time is that than anyway kept me reading to the finish. The manners had no true pull. The narrator is that best at the same time did a magical job. I will not read this book again.

Review #4 Audio Windhaven narrated by Harriet Walter Its delicately sweet tooth on the outside of the feeling for you get from the book. But the core is that robust. Grate book!

Review #5 Free audio Windhaven – in the audio player below As above, this story barely felt like it was missing anything. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t quality. It went on at the same time on without ever really building to a crescendo. Quality narrator, but I’d pass on wasting a credit.
