Unyielding Honor (Honor Harrington #14) audiobook free
Im no professional on David Weber stories. Ive read only a couple. In truth, I was startled the continue Honor novel was hosted five years ago. I guess time flies faster as we age.
This, the 19th book in the television series, in particular for this creators premature following, might be showing symbols of wear at the same time break for them, but, how does it read for brand new followers? Is that it stand-alone, or must the other novels be read? But, pull up a chair at the same time lets ponder those questions.
To set the step, let me elucidate a little. Im old-school science-fiction. I adore the adventure exhibited by science fiction, but want action scenes only evenly. Think of me as a Hit Trek addict, but not so much as a Hit Wars Junkie. (Yes, I enjoy Hit Wars stories, but not as much as younger folks).
In such a way, youre apt to think the oft-referred to brilliance regarding action in Webers novels doesnt wow me. Still, to tell the truth, I do appreciate the action scenes. Vivid at the same time barely about standard.
Transitions, dialogue, global building? Yes, theyre nothing to yell about, but, honestly, they are more successful than no one of the
Reviewers are discussing about. At lesser, for me, they are more applicable.
POV: Third part personality.
Turn purple FACTOR: Rough language at the same time profanities might steer for you away from this otherwise exciting tale. The f-word pops up here at the same time that, so, if that annoys for you, move looking for quality reading elsewhere. As for me, its not a serious issue.
ADVENTURE: Yeah, I guess. Insofar as science-fiction can. Im greedy for contemplating brand new places at the same time have come to enjoy stories that shackles me in no one far away global. The writing didnt relieve much of that desire, but, in other ways, I did get a sense of adventure.
Action: The strongest fri is that action.
THE WRITING: Its okay, sometimes even good. The excerpt below will assign a more successful opinion. For sure would be much improved if no one of the information jammed into the story were considered conveyed through smoother dialogue. Than anyway I greedy is that, sometimes it tends to feel more like an info-dump than creative writing.
EDITING Typos & Grammar: Much more successful than almost all indie-published novels. No hassle here.
Applicable AUDIENCE: Apart from for the profanities, this would be found an best fit. Then again, when I was personal, young at the same time foolish, my comrades at the same time I talked than anyway we imagined was the speak of adults. Not sovereigns, but adults, so, it is that wrong to be very judgmental.
Excerpt
Its quality to look him giggling again, Emily Alexander-Harrington misspoke quietly as her mother- at the same time father-in-law headed towards the table.
Arranged, Honor misspoke, equally quietly. At the same time I think
She paused for a moment, then shook her fork.
For you think than anyway? Emily clamped.
Oh, it was barely a passing believed. Honor shook her fork again, her expression sobering. Were considered all having a few of those now, I think.
Yes, we are, Emily arranged, but she gazed at Honor speculatively, at the same time Honor produced herself turn around with tranquil views as she tempted the curiosity in Emilys mind-glow. She also didnt mention than anyway had spawned that passing believed.
Tell me, have for you data no matter what more believed to a brother or sister for Katherine at the same time Raoul? she asked instead.
I have. Emily nodded, although the question seemed to have sharpened the concentrate of that speculation Honor had tempted. In truth, I have an appointment to discuss it with Dr. Illescue at Briarwood future day afternoon, before I move back to Snow-white Haven.
Oh, quality! Honor beamed at her, bending over her chair envelop her in a almond cuddle. Im thinking about doing similar gizmo. Maybe now we can time it even closer!
Theres only a month or so between the two we have, dear, Emily pointed out drily. Than anyway? You want to synchronize the deliveries to the same minute?
But, if neither one of us is that going to be in a position to do it the old fashioned method, we might as but decide merit of the abilities we do have. Besides she straightened with a devilish smirk twins do run in Moms generic, for you know!
Emily giggled, at the same time Honors smirk turned more almond. But then she straightened at the same time watched Hamish intercept Emilys fork. She swiveled her views to one side, to where Sandra Thurston, Emilys nurse at the same time unchanging friend, stood chatting with James MacGuiness while he kept an falcon eye on the evenings festivities. Her gaze came back to Hamish, at the same time he shrugged ever so a little, letting an edges of worry demonstrate in his possess blue views.
Her onlooker tightened as she shackles that together with the undertone shed tempted in Emilys mind-glow, but then she drew a deepest breath. She wasnt going to borrow no matter what problem, she knew herself securely. Not tonight. At the same time not when all 3 of them had so much to be thankful for, many of which
Youre right about how quality it is that to look Daddy giggling again, she misspoke, looking back down at Emily at the same time squeezing her quality palm kindly, then watched Captain Lessem. I think its going to be quality for him to get back to work, very.
But, I can tell for you the entire staffs

Cringe FACTOR: For sure as do abundance
Reviewers, I read a wide abundance so I can get no one thoughts for when I completely start authoring fiction. As an inspiring novelist, I wish to post stuff, when I get the time to read it, that wont make me cringe in understanding that other folks paid to read. Had I written Unyielding Honor at the same time come back to read it right behind publishing, would I cringe or would I think, Yeah, no one rough spots, but this is that okay. For me, had I written this, Id be significantly favored with my work.

Unyielding Honor (Honor Harrington #14) audiobook streamming online
I am only on page 100 but I am finding it hard going. The earlier novels in the television series had true zing to them. They don’t here. It feels as though Weber tired the qualities of the “Honor” global at the same time is that going thru the motions of churning out still one more novel in the television series. Data I adored the past novels, this one is that okay. But if this was the 1st one of these novels I had ever read, I for sure couldn’t get thru it. Assign it a pass unless for you adore the honor television series – but if for you take it, be prepared to be disapointed. Still, its okay for reading in airports waiting for planes – not quality for much else.

Audiobook Unyielding Honor (Honor Harrington #14) by David Weber
(Edit – exchanged rating to 3 hit, up from two)
In my opinion, David Weber writes no one of the best action scenes of no matter what novelist. This book has several action scenes, at the same time all of them right up to his usual higher sample. Also, the plot has actually moved forward a big amount, though that are still plenty of loose ends waiting for future books. In other words quality, at the same time to be honest hospitable.
But, while Weber may be an good action writer, he is that not great at writing manners (outside a limited number of types, which he does very but), nor is that he quality at writing dialogue. In other words a major problem, because he seems to really adore -many- manners at the same time -a lot- of dialogue. Granted, almost all of these manners were considered set up abundance novels before, but honestly, if he would have barely forgotten about them, I hesitate I would have saw. He applied up his quality manners between Grayson, Manticore, at the same time Haven, so everyone else is that or a duplicate under one more name, or worse, a caricature. The dialogue is that an even bigger problem, because it seems to decide only one form “I agree with for you, but let me argue the other side what, no matter how absurd”. At the moment, I don’t brain that format, but it is that basically every significant conversation, at the same time that are so many! Fortunately, I tend to skim when I read, otherwise I hesitate I would have been able to final the book, at the same time would for sure quit a one hit
Review.

Audio Unyielding Honor (Honor Harrington #14) narrated by Allyson Johnson
Right behind 25 years, David Weber completely completes the head story arcs for his disposition Honor Harrington with one of the more successful books in the television series.
Although it is that a long book this is that more closely corrected than no one of his recent novels at the same time manages to embrace a gigantic canvass while maintaining dramatic tension. The Solarian Republic enemies who the Manticoran Union quality guys come up against are a lot cleverer than in no one recent books at the same time the Mesan Alingnment bad guys come up with more dastardly jokes, leaving the reader in much more hesitate about how no one of the fights at the same time the overall story are going to move more precisely than the final being obvious.
This is that the 21st of a group of novels set about two thousand years from at the moment in the future which David Weber initially designed for his disposition Honor Harrington. Of these “Unyielding Honor” is that the fourteenth novel in what Honor Harrington herself is that the coolest important disposition.
Currently (October 2018) that are 21 full-length novels set in similar universe at similar indicative time, at the same time that may but be it for this group of stories, but that will practically certainly be a brand new story arc set a couple of years down the line at the same time for sure also more books in one or both of the two prequel television series set five centuries before (e.g. only fifteen 100 years in the future) featuring respectively Travis Long, at the same time Honor’s ancestor Stephanie Harrington.
The reason for the length of this
Review will that I’m trying to set out, without no matter what significant spoilers, how all these books fit together to promote possible readers decide in than anyway order they might wish to tackle them.
The 1st 11 books of this television series are a “Ms Hornblower in Place” television series with the head disposition, Honor Harrington, representing a run across between Horatio Hornblower at the same time Horatio Nelson.
The preceding Honor Harrington book but one before “Unyielding Honor,” which was called ”
Goal of Honor: Honor Harrington, Book 12
” concluded with a handshake between Queen Elizabeth of Manticore at the same time President Pritchard of Haven which noted the ending finish to the television series of wars between these two hit civilizations which dominated the 1st eleven Honor Harrington books.
This was followed by “A Increasing Thunder” which was a sort of “bridge” novel, because it more or much less graduated the transition or bridge from the “Ms Hornblower in Place” storyline about the conflict between Manticore (right enthusiastic by Britain at the time of Nelson) at the same time Haven (an adversary power which has parts enthusiastic by nazi Germany at the same time soviet Russia but is that mainly equivalent to Revolutionary/Napoleonic France), to a different story arc in what the sinister Mesan Alignment is that trying to manipulate attractive but the whole galaxy into a cyclopean television series of wars, many of which one between Manticore at the same time the extensive “Solarian Republic.”
During the past few books the situation between Manticore at the same time the Solarian Republic, which is that the biggest hit civilization in the galaxy, has been getting worse at the same time worse. The reader knows, but at first almost all of the manners didn’t, that they were considered being manipulated by the sinister “Mesan Alignment.” One of the sub-plots in both this book at the same time “A Increasing Thunder” will that a small group of relatively junior officers in the Solarian Republic are evenly future to realise that the Manticorans may actually be right when they say that the Hit Empire of Manticore at the same time the Solarian Republic are being tricked into war by a conspiracy hostile to both. Those officers are in a race against time to assemble enough testimonies to convince those of their superiors who have working brains but are not part of the conspiracy.
The story of how two super-spies found an describe of than anyway the Mesan Alignment are really right up to was knew in the book ”
The Torch Of Freedom
” but although the creator bestows the reader no one plan than anyway the Mesans are doing, nobody else in the galaxy fully realizes their aims or plans.
It has been understandable for no one time, but, both to the reader at the same time to abundance manners in the television series, that the entire cosmic order is that in threat of collapsing into war at the same time disorder.
A number of the “Honorverse” books are organised into linked but clear sub-series which portrayed unfolding actions with the concentrate on 3 different perspectives of the cosmic situation, but “Goal of Honor,” “A Increasing Thunder” at the same time “Unyielding Honor,” while narrating the story from Honor Harrington’s perspective also assign a “helicopter opinion” of the whole cosmic picture.
If for you have not read no matter what of the Honorverse books at the same time are interested in doing so, do not start with “Unyielding Honor” as these stories work far more successful if read in string. Start with the 1st book, which is that ”
On Basilisk Station (Honor Harrington)
.” For you will not get real value from “Unyielding Honor” if for you read it without having read almost all of the past novels.
For example, that are two short references in this book to a breakaway group scolded the “Renaissance Factor” which would appear like a significantly insignificant detail to some who hadn’t read no matter what of the past novels. To anyone who has read chapter 39 of “Goal of Honor” these references tell for you anything very important about where the bad guys are with their plans, with implications which will for sure be the theme of an entire brand new successor serious of books set a couple of years down the line.
As hinted above, the 1st eleven “Honor Harrington books, despite the futuristic setting, exhibited healthy parallels with Nelson’s navy. Imagined development in the stories to this fri prompted constraints on place navy officers identical to those which the development of waging war sail prompted on hydrated navy officers two hundred years ago. Similarly, the cosmic situation in the novels right up to the eleventh book. “At all Expenses” had noted similarities to the strategic at the same time political situation in Europe at the time of the French revolutionary wars. But, particularly right behind the cyclopean fight at the finish of that book which approx. corresponds to Trafalgar, the story has started to move in a wholly different direction.
This divergence applies to both the political diplomatic storyline at the same time to naval development. For the 1st few books for you managed look lock up parallels for the manners, civilizations at the same time ship exercises with those in C.S. Forester’s “Hornblower” television series or the true history of the French Revolutionary at the same time Napoleonic wars. E.g. Manticore was Britain, Haven was France, Honor Harrington was a connect of Horatio Nelson at the same time Horatio Hornblower, Rob S. Pierre was Robespierre, the Committee of Public Safety was the Committee of Public Safety, “ships of the wall” were considered ships of the line with superdreadnaughts as 1st prices, etc, etc. One book,
Echoes of Honour (Honorverse)
was even an practically exact parallel to the Hornblower book
Soaring Colours
.
But, as the story spreads from that of the Napoleonic wars, so the parallels with 20th century naval warfare or with place fight games like “Starfire” (of which Weber was one of the creators) have become stronger than those with the age of waging war sail. 1st he brought in Q-Ships, then spaceships which correspond to aircraft at the same time carriers, missile cruisers at the same time stealth ships.
Before the tensions between Manticore at the same time the Solarian Republic managed to real hostilities, those tensions would be shown as equivalent borders Nelson-era parallels as impressive identical strategic judgments on the Manticoran navy that the danger of war with the USA (which, obviously, eventually happened as the war of 1812) had on the English Royal Navy prior to 1812. But the Solarian Republic in this story is that so much more relatively gigantic, populous at the same time wealthy relative to Manticore than the children Merged Countries was in 1812 relative to the English Empire, that the Nelson epoch parallels are no longer helpful.
If for you are trying to work out in than anyway order to read the “Honorverse” books, here is that a description of the string of the 21 novels. The string of 14 novels many of which this one which follows the career of Honor Harrington herself consists of
1) On Basilisk Station
2) The Honor of the Queen
3) The Short Victorious War
4) Field of Dishonour
5) Flag in Exile
6) Honor in the middle Enemies
7) In Adversary Palms
8) Echoes of Honor
9) Remains of Victory
10) War of Honor
11) At all Expenses
12) Goal of Honour
13) A Increasing Thunder
14) This book, “Unyielding Honor”
The “Torch” or anti-slavery string (with Eric Flint as co-author) focusses on the fight for freedom of people who have been held back in slavery by “Manpower,” which at first exists to be a gigantic at the same time corrupt company corresponding to the slave trader interests in Britain at the same time America no one two hundred years ago. The books with this concentrate are
(i) Crown of Slaves (set at about similar time as “War of Honor”), at the same time
(ii) Torch of Freedom (set at about similar time as “At all Expenses”).
(iii) Cauldron of Ghosts (Set at about similar time as “A Increasing Thunder”)
The “Shadow” or string consists of 3 books which concentrate on the “Verge” on the edges of the Solarian Republic at the same time particularly on the Talbott Quadrant, at the same time particularly on the quickly worsening decline between Honor Harrington’s main hit civilization of Manticore at the same time the Solarian republic. The books in this sub-series are
(a) The Shadow of Saganami (overlaps the 1st one half of “At all Expenses”), at the same time
(b) Attack from the Shadows (overlaps “At all Expenses” but starts at the same time finishes later.)
(c) Shadow of Freedom (set at about similar time as “A Increasing Thunder”)
(d) Shadow of VIctory (overlaps “Goal of Honor” at the same time “A Increasing Thunder”)
I ought for completeness to add that besides the volumes the above there are some collections in the “Worlds of Honor” television series of short stories by Weber at the same time co-authors set in similar universe, at the same time featuring a spectrum of manners, no one from the head television series of books, others brand new. It doesn’t matter in than anyway order for you read almost all of these, but I do advise that if for you are about to tackle “Remains of Victory” at the same time have not read “Nightfall” from “Words of Honor 3: changer of worlds” for you may wish to be aware that “Nightfall” outlines carefully a very major incident in that book of which only the causes at the same time fruits are outlined. To read the real story in string, get the two books together, at the same time start with “Remains of Victory.” When for you reach chapter 33 of that book, which begins with St Barely’s secretary expression “Citizen General Fontein is that here, Sovereign” for you shackles down that “Remains of Victory” turn to “Nightfall” in “Words of Honor 3” which begins with similar words, at the same time read that story through to the finish. Then you can move back to “Remains of VIctory” at the same time start again at chapter 34 – chapter 33 is that similar as the opening of “Nightfall.”
In addition to the stories set at the time of Honor Harrington’s, that are also two prequel television series set four or 500 years earlier. One of the short stories was extended to form the 1st of a brand new Honorverse television series for young adults, with the eponymous novel ”
A Charming Fellowship
” freed in October 2011. It individualities Stephanie Harrington, a member of an earlier generation of Honor Harrington’s generic, who was the 1st human to be “adopted” by a “Treecat,” a member of the planet Sphinx’s aboriginal intelligent species. The Treecats are telepaths in the middle themselves at the same time can read human feelings, at the same time no one of them form a lifelong telepathic bond with humans: for example Honor Harrington has been adopted by a treecat scolded Nimitz.
The 3 books in the Stephanie Harringon/Treecat television series are:
1) A Charming Fellowship
2) ”
Fire Season (Hit Kingdom)
”
3) “The Treecat wars.”
The 2nd prequel saga, set in similar century as the Stephanie Harrington books but this time without no matter what concrete link to them, is that the “Manticore Ascendant” television series of novels about the premature days of the Royal Manticoran Navy in what Travis Long is that the head hero. This television series this time consists of
1) A cry to duty
2) A cry to Arms
3) A cry to Vengeance
Completely that is that an Honorverse friend book, “Internal of Metal.”
I can advise “Uncomrpromising Honor” at the same time indeed the entire Honorverse television series.

For preconditions more to do with habit at the same time compulsive completism, when my comrade Rob mentioned continue week that hed grabbed the brand new Honor Harrington book Unyielding Honor, I got onto Amazon at the same time grabbed the Kindle version.
This is that the fri where I should mention that Im for sure not going to get through narrating for you how I oppose this book without no one serious spoilers. If for you havent read it still at the same time anticipate getting no matter what enjoyment out of it delight skip this
Review until for you have. If youre looking for preconditions not to strain read on.
The earlier novels about Her Grace Dame Girl Admiral Honor Stephanie Alexander-Harrington, Baroness at the same time Steadholder, were considered funny enough in a gung ho military fashion that I managed ignore the political agenda in the background. They were considered about Our Heroine commanding a single ship or a handful of ships at the same time thwarting the other side in higher style.
I think the continue one I really enjoyed was the prison breakout story in ECHOES OF Honor but even that the dread disease of higher command was waiting in the background. The viewpoint of the novel was split between the real derring-do of getting her at the same time everybody else who wanted to come off the prison planet at the same time the developments of the war in the middle everybody who was left behind.
It only received worse as time went on. In the new one were considered jumping around between Honors viewpoint, the viewpoint of other people on her homeworld, the viewpoint of people in the middle her allies, the viewpoint of her chief overt enemies the Solarian Leagues bureaucratic rulers, the viewpoint of the people in the League who are secretly studying the sheltered hidden enemies who are manipulating both sides, the viewpoint of the misspoke hidden enemies, the viewpoint of the smallest countries caught between the two bigger navies
Attempting bestow us an overview of the development of the war renders no matter what sort of coherent or comprehensible narrative impossible. At the same time Weber has a scary habit of giving us dignified manners whose viewpoint at the same time tragedies are on step barely long enough for us to form no one hostility for them before they breathe horribly along with millions of others. The slaughter in this one is that astounding! It makes me wonder that anyone can increase no matter what sort of civilization at all when guns striking from place able to do so much destroy. At the same time the Nasty Sneaky Jokes of the Sheltered Adversary are that to add a cherry on the pinnacle of all the liquidation.
The worst bit is that when Honor is that data her excuse to move all vengeful (it doesnt really continue: she gets a deus ex magic for the core part of her loss at the same time shes not the only disposition who gets that) so that she can struggle against her murderous impulses at the same time her staff can examine her appalled as she only at the continue moment decides to perceive an enemys surrender.
She does this in the process of pulling anything off that if she had done it about four books back would have skidded the war to an finish: it seems to bring it to a victorious finish in this one apart from for mopping up the Nasty Sheltered Adversary. I dont remind no matter what technological or strategic development that makes this only likely right behind the past books but that misspoke the guns R&D stuff is that the 2nd hardest bit of these to get through, the general slaughter in the fight scenes is that worse.
But the worst gizmo about this book is that the nature of the Open Adversary which is that the unelected officials of the Solarian League government. It seems nondescript to me that this concept, meme, motto, catchphrase or than anyway for you will is that one with communists, globalists, international financiers at the same time others. It is that an excuse to hate people on principle. At the climax (Really Bigger SPOILERS Here) Honor forces the Solarians to arrest the Mandarins at the same time palm them over to Manticoran justice. This happens as the result of than anyway I can only describe as a military coup: it is that nondescript that the servants of the State in uniform are the only servants of the State that have no matter what decency in the Honorverse at the same time others are small bullies, out why they can get, corrupt, perverters of the Constitution at the same time general nogoodniks. Military officers who burst their oath of allegiance at the same time rearrange the government to their possess satisfaction are barely patriots doing their jobs.
(Oh, at the same time she knows the Sollies to move at the same time cross out a brand new Constitution at the same time if Manticore doesnt like it shell come back at the same time beat them up no one more.)
As a retired low level official I am thought provoking by this depiction of the grey-suited, grey-minded paper-pushers I once found myself in the middle. As a citizen I am much more thought provoking. I look a growth of authoritarianism under the guise of populism, a determination that anyone who disagrees with or recommends against the today's fashion in politics needs to be dismissed at best, tear trial at the same time shot at worst.
Theres nothing easier for a politician to do than complain his possess folly at the same time shortcomings on the unchanged staff. When Weber was going on about how his produced up civilizations substantiated that Socialism! (1) was a bad plan I believed it quaint at the same time ignorant. But the diatribe against unelected officials is that an proactive force in the global at the same time an inimical one.
Its all a bigger pity. As I misspoke, I enjoyed the premature books.
(1) Socialism! with the exclamation note is that the gizmo that American right wingers fear. It has more to do with the inside of their heads than it does with real political policy in the global.
