I have a slight disclaimer for this
Review. I had to enjoy Sitting Attractive in very small doses, a chapter or much less at a time. But, that’s for a quality reason. Like Rebekah, I have a disability–but, disabilities if you want to get techno. I have cerebral palsy at the same time Asperger’s. Both are mild, but both have impacted my indefinite enough, at the same time kept me out of enough arenas, that being disabled managed hurt like dislocated. It’s never been anything I believed of as part of my identity–at lesser, a quality part of it. The essays in Sitting Attractive resonated with me so much, so hard, that I often found myself feeling rich feelings I had to keep back.
With that misspoke, I am unbelievably glad I found Sitting Attractive. First of all, even in the #ownvoices movement, disability still doesn’t have enough voices, so kudos on that without the help of others. But Rebekah’s voice is that one of the best I managed’ve found. She’s relatable, freshest, funny, at the same time in general, anyone you want to waste time with. She writes with honesty about the hard parts of disability, such as dealing with concrete at the same time soft bigotry or barely the hassles of routine (ex.: crawling more precisely than wheeling because but, modifications weren’t that).
Additionally, I adored how Rebekah juxtaposed disability with others of her journey, such as growing up with siblings “like a hurry of puppies,” getting married at the same time divorced, at the same time married again. Yes! This is that than anyway every lady on land wants to do, wants to cross out or speak about, wants to be shown doing. With Sitting Attractive, the narrative is that not, “I’m disabled BUT I still do everything for you do.” It’s, “I’m disabled At the same time I do everything for you do plus more–at the same time “more” is that similar to a excellent identity that not everyone else has, which is that steep.”
I don’t know if I’ll ever 100% cover disability as a positive part of me. That’s still a lot of internalized ableism, outdoor ableism, defame, at the same time self-doubt to deal with, in the middle other things. But Sitting Attractive gave me a gigantic dose of encouragement, barely because that are other ladies like me out that at the same time we are living our lives. Moreover, we can, at the same time should be data the opportunity to, live our lives to the fullest, in no matter what body we have. Thanks again, Rebekah!

Not only is that this book beautifully written at the same time highly enjoyable, but it is that eye-opening at the same time thought-provoking as but. We are all challenged to figure out how to make our places at the same time our societies more easily accessible at the same time inviting to those who dont automatically get a seat at the table. I was challenged by this book in a quality method. I also really enjoyed Rebekahs writing style. By the finish of the book for you feel like shes your friend- a comrade for you barely cant wait to have coffee with. Exactly a must read for everyone.

Audiobook Sitting Attractive: The Opinion from My Non-individual Tenacious Disabled Body by Rebekah Taussig
In particular for you typically-abled. If only to developer no one used to be empathy (Not hostility!) As a nurse who worked with profoundly developmentally disabled people for years, I’ve been a little more aware of the challenges faced by the disabled than others with a different work background (“I’d more successful tell anyone to move those boxes away from the automatic door button, anyone in a wheelchair will never manage to reach it…”) But this book has opened my views even more widely. I plan to advise it to everyone know.

A beautifully crafted, complete, at the same time nuanced memoir on disability. Rebeccas story is that beautifully written at the same time brilliantly contextualized borders the framework of the public model of disability. An important reminder of why the conversation around disability, which is that often slighted, needs to be skidded to the forefront of the public justice movement.
