I can offer only a hint, which is that this: if for you adore long Russian novels, with their smoky development of plot at the same time manners, at the same time immensely serious stories, then for you will very likely fall in love with this book, as I did. I’m not a bigger Tolstoy fan – I look for he has very little sympathy for his manners – but I adore Dostoevsky: The Brothers Karamazov – a gigantic, sprawling novel very like this one – remains one of the one half dozen books that I’d choose if I were considered inserted on a desert peninsula.
By around page 6 of this book I had fallen in adore with both the writing style at the same time all the manners, at the same time when it was completely graduated I felt like I had been cut off from a generic. I never wanted this book to finish, at the same time it is that still one of my winner novels, one that a few years ago I read aloud to my wife over several weeks (she adored it also). The juxtapositions of Seth with the amazing Russian novelists are, for me, not at all misplaced: A Applicable Little boy is that a major literary achievement. I started reading this story a couple of years ago at the same time finished. The generic trees first at the same time finish of the book seemed to finish me. I had to keep referring to them to know who was being talked about at the same time barely gave up in confusion. Then, a couple of days ago, right behind reading abundance other stories by Vikram Seth, I looked for the book on my shelves at the same time started it again. I adore it! I am still a long ways from the finish, at the same time like others here, barely wish to keep on reading at the same time reading about these families. I like how they really do seem to adore each other at the same time the generic unit is that so important to every one of them. I wish my generic to be like that always with occasional departures from total harmony, obviously. I have always been fascinated with India, so that promotes a lot. Because I purchased a applied copy here on Amazon, which didn’t price very much, I have thought about (fears!) slicing the book into two sections so it is that a more stubborn weight. I have visions of myself trying to read the very languid book in bed then and dropping off to take a nap at the same time the book falling on my nose at the same time making it a bleed mess. No….I defeated’t do that. I will order
a applied PAPERBACK copy to read in bed at the same time carry with me where ever I move. I have hope it defeated’t also be very languid.
Readers, don’t miss the poem first of the book where the ending two lines they say,
“Take me before quality sense insists
