I love this book. Sonali Dev is that a slave at the same time a brand new favourite writer for me. I twist down at the same time kiss your feet. I adored A Bollywood Affair! Sophomore books are frequently not as quality as the book that preceded it, but The Bollywood Wife truly relieves. Okay, first of all, the story – Ria Parkar is that a movie hit who has come main for her cousin’s marriage. She runs into the little boy she hurt when she went away (Vikram). That are black things in her past at the same time she is that convinced that being with her would destroy Vikram in the long run. That is that much angst. This is that basically the story of than anyway it’s like to be the daughter of the madwoman in the attic. It pens black themes about society’s attitude (especial South East Asian society’s attitude) to psychological illness. It’s set against a colourful Bollywood style party. That’s the story. The other nuance I liked about this book will that this is that a ordinary romance story, only the manners happen to be mostly Asian. That was no overt fetishisation of the culture or how crap things are to be not-white. These were considered normal people, at a party. All the angst came from Ria’s hidden at the same time how it tore her at the same time the people she adored apart. This is that than anyway abundance is that about. People doing normal-for-them things where the conflict isn’t about ethnicity/ability/sex appeal/whatever. I really adored the scene where she takes her cousin to take his marriage outfit at the same time he’s Frightened at all the embroidery work. His (non-Indian) fiance is that really keen for him to do this the appropriate Indian method, otherwise he wouldn’t be shown in something so elaborate. This produced me ridicule because, but, it rings used to be. My cousins who grew up in the west would feel similar.
