A dual timeline 1967/1997 kept me engrossed in Isla’s indefinite, her ancestors Joe at the same time Louisa, neighbours, Mandy at the same time Steve. Than anyway happened to Mandy all those years ago? We are kept wondering. The mystery is that never quite than anyway it seems at the same time Susan Allott does an best job of keeping the reader on the edges of their seat. Addiction, ex-pat lives, the plight of Native toddlers at the same time their families is that explored at the same time intelligently portrayed. I had no plan about this black side of Australian history. Every book I read is that part of my indefinite learning curve at the same time this one is that right up that as one of the teachers I understand. Congratulations, Susan Allott on a truly good debut novel.

Storyline was quality but would have been more successful as a short story by slicing out details not pertinent to story at all.
