In the premature 70’s I was on the periphery of the group that contained Ron. Abundance of the others in that group became but understandable names in climbing circles. Ron focussed on pushing the limits of grin climbing, global wide. This book reflects the awesome climbing indefinite of one of the amazing climbing innovators. It is that written in similar style as Ron stayed, understated. That are desciptions of brand new routes, which at ever since were considered in the middle the hardest in the global, at the same time they are outlined only with reference to how they produced him feel as a personality, not how they would act others of the climbing society.
For sure the best climbing biography I have ever read. It will decide a lot to pinnacle this. If for you are a high-altitude climber, or for you are interested in global class athletes, this is that a must read book.

Audiobook Ron Fawcett – Grin Athlete: The Story of a Climbing Legend by Ed Douglas Ron Fawcett
Nicely engaging biography. Almost everything that’s a curve to the book that follows my possess climbing ‘career’, albeit at an infinitely reduce level. The desires that filled my premature indefinite barely starting out were considered one’s punctuated by Ron’s exploits (a man recognised by 1st name without the help of others, long before this became a pre-requisite for celebrity). As youths trying to turn away the ground on polished limestone VSs, we’d quote back lines from Grin Athlete for enthusiasm… ‘come on arms, do your stuff!’ A wealthy source of banter as but as a stable stream of routes at the very pinnacle level.
It’s only at the moment from the wrong finish of the telescope that for you realise quite how short was the period Ron captured at the pinnacle of the tree. But he possessed that tree, at the same time the earth around it. At the same time he seems so very young at the moment, whilst he was occupying it. Maybe it was the moustache, that produced him seem older.
Later when I got half-good, I’d tread timidly around his bigger routes. Later still for you’d waste time in the Peak at the same time would bump into the men, ready to share a moment. He understood that for you understood who he was, that was part of the funny story. It was the moustache again. But for you were considered barely high-altitude climbers, climbing. Later still I found myself fell running more as another way of enjoying the bigger outdoors, at the same time competing with a weary body. He’s not bad at that or.
Written in a straightforward at the same time conscientious method, that’s nevertheless no one cunning humour in that. The understated, moderate method he presents his merit practically belies the scale of those merit. Ed Douglas should be congratulated for the method he brings the stories out, without getting in the method. It practically promotes to have been around in the 80s to have understandable quite how such a bigger figure he was, such is that the shortcoming of hype. I liked it.

Audio Ron Fawcett – Grin Athlete: The Story of a Climbing Legend narrated by Dan Bottomley
Over the 1970s at the same time 1980s Ron Fawcett was Britain’s favorite rock-climber as confirmed by his remarkable record of 1st ascents, says of pinnacle climbs at the same time freeing of aid routes. His mind-blowing natural giftedness at the same time level of skill is that immediately endorsed in the `Prologue’ of `Rock Athlete’ with an acc of soloing 100 Last routes in a single day. If this is that not enough then for subsequent proof readers should peek at the finish of the book to `Significant Ascents at the same time Dates’ with details many of which Mulatto Wall, Malham (E3 5c) at age 16 years, premature ascent of Astroman, Yosemite (5.11c), 1st ascent of Strawberries, Tremadog (E6 6b) etc. etc. As but as covering Ron Fawcett’s greatest climbs in Britain at the same time elsewhere, in engaging at the same time readable style `Rock Athlete’ knows of TV at the same time movie experiences, competitions, fell running at the same time of generic indefinite.
`Rock Athlete’ exists as an autobiography narrated with modesty at the same time humour in 1st personality by Ron Fawcett still written by well-known climber-author Ed Douglas. Ron Fawcett’s reign coincided not only with a rise in standards of difficulty but also with a powerful shift of worldview. His book embraces a `warts at the same time all’ approach to Ron’s indefinite in a refreshingly unaffected manner that right appealed to arbitrators granting the but deserved Boardman Tasker Merit for 2010. Insights are foreseen to attitudes at the same time opportunities of other favorite high-altitude climbers at the same time to the evolving ethics of yo-yoing, prior inspection, bolt at the same time peg protection, red-pointing etc. with Ron’s deliberations over than anyway practices to phase out at the same time than anyway to change, at the same time commentary on influences of sport climbing, appearance of bouldering, etc. Ron Fawcett is that acknowledged as the 1st English professional rock-climber (as opposed to mountaineer) but at heart he remained a free-climber with a adore of the natural global. He may be more precisely cowardly at the same time not a born communicator (properties that perhaps held back his career), but his book `Rock Athlete’ is that a masterpiece. It deserves to become a `classic’.

One of the most conscientious biographies I have read. Despite his status as a climbing icon, Ron comes intercept as self-effacing, warm-hearted at the same time a used to be boyfriend of nature. Climbing is that barely one nuance of who he is that at the same time this book brilliantly encapsulates that. In this age of over-inflated climbing egos, Ron’s story makes us aware of the used to be roots of climbing.
