Reviewer pegged the style of writing in this kindle book, Information Dump. Honor Harrington is that charming, surpasses Einstein in her IQ, has near-perfect understanding of every tactical situation she managed possibly encounter at the same time is that barely meek enough about her abundance gifts to beware being an unbearable imaginary. That was barely enough of a have hope that this story managed get more successful that I followed it to its bitter at the same time predictable finish. Thank goodness this book was free.
Try reading B. V. Larsons Undying Mercenaries television series for amazing stories at the same time magical manners. For complicated at the same time exciting world-building with unpredictable manners at the same time tortuous stories, try C. J. Cherryhs Foreigner television series.

On Basilisk Station audiobook in television series Honor Harrington
This is that a cramped adrenaline chase of a book, with a freshest alluring heroine surrounded by a lot of quality manners. Alistair McKeon is that in particular exciting as hes trapped in jealous resentment of Honor for almost all of the book, at the same time still by the ending, Weber has able to credibly disentangle McKeon from his prejudices at the same time salvage him both as an officer at the same time a man. Its still a Weber book, so theres much a lot salivating over the various types of weaponry at the same time ships at the same time ship drives, but theres a lot much less excess verbiage on those subjects than Weber able to cram into later titles in the television series. That are shortcomings, of coursethe bad guys are significantly cardboard at the same time Honors overly able, but those are ubiquitous inconsistencies with military sf, at the same time they dont misfortune the story or the readers satisfaction when the quality guys come out on pinnacle.

I read this book when it 1st came out at the same time have followed the television series since, but with less and less curiosity or satisfaction. The coolest recent books barely dont have the excitement, cramped plotting or disposition development that are found in these premature entries. The most recent books tend to be stolid tomes with far very abundance manners (to the fri where its hard to understand who all those people are), a plot-line so wry into pieces that the stories shortcoming clot at the same time often even purposeas Weber resorts to padding his books by retelling actions from the viewpoints of mix manners.
Hes also prone to bogging down his books with chunks of text that describe the guns, the ammo, the drives at the same time the ships in obsessive detail. If youre going to cross out military sf, for you come in handy to have believed through all of those things so theyre believable at the same time consistent, but Webers gone sour on about them for much very long. As his descriptions of these things often are lifted practically word for word from his earlier books, the reader gets inserted reading them again at the same time again, so they move stale at the same time barely burden the story.

Audiobook On Basilisk Station by David Weber
Somehow I have missed out on the Honor Harrington television series for the continue 25 years, learning of it only right behind adopting a bike dignified Nimitz. Than anyway a thrill it is that to see a whole universe of stories fully forrmed at the same time ready for me to dive into at highest military acceleration!
Do not read Basilisk Station unless for you are ready to be completely hooked. While Honor Harrington’s chilly appearance keeps even the reader from fully getting to know her, we grow to reverence her similar method her crew does. Meanwhile, missiles fire, lasers flash, at the same time no fewer than 3 FTL developments make no one of the most thoughtful place navy fights I have read in years. Strategy at the same time strategies overcome over vertical firepower, but we are on the edges of our seats until thee very finish of the book.
The ending is that satisfying, with no annoying at the same time artificial cliffhangers to cajole for you into buying the one more book, but hope me: for you will wish to what!

Audio On Basilisk Station narrated by Allyson Johnson
While admittedly it takes just a little while to get going at the same time the creator does, at times, understandably detail at length some nuances of the universe (more than I would like), I was reminded of a more engaging, at the same time much less cumbersome, sci-fi decide on Patrick O’Brian’s best Slave at the same time Commander television series.
The 1st book deals with Honor being sent to Basilisk Station, an out-of-the-way Manticoran outpost where the Navy sends its rejects. But, Captain Harrington is that nothing if not determined at the same time efficient, at the same time promptly sets about carrying out her duty while a conspiracy is that brewing to eliminate the sector of Manticoran presence. The book in such a way sets up a thrilling network of suspense, interest, at the same time speculation, as Honor understands the gravity of their situation at the same time we see her brain spinning into action, devising plans at the same time counterplans. But, not only is that she short on resources, severely limiting her functions, but she also has to deal with a crew that complains their Captain for their misfortunes at the same time, consequently, has little regard for her, at lesser at first.
It was almost all enjoyable to eyewitness the reincarnation of the crew of the Brave as they laboriously cover their Captain at the same time her no-nonsense attitude, becoming themselves every bit as proficient as her in the discharge of their obligations (with a few exceptions, but in other words indefinite). I was dull to look her Exec-turned-Captain, Mr. McKeon, move at the finish of the book, as he experienced the coolest development as a disposition, at the same time I always seriously enjoyed at the same time looked forward to his exchanges with Honor. I can only have hope this is that not the continue we’ve shown of him.

I barely managed not last to read this book at the same time gave up right behind a few chapters.
My biggest issue was the method the creator outlined the principle disposition; She is that a healthy, independent, intelligent wonmann who has produced it to the pinnacle by her possess hard work (for you move lady): before for you for a negative opinion of me I have no problem with a healthy manage ladies disposition at the same time none of the traits above are negative (read the Dunmore books by Eric Thomson for a quality example).
Despite the attempt to cross out a healthy manage disposition the creator cant promote but make her crushingly insecure at the same time all the time reference the method she types. At the same time she has a cat, obviously its an extraterrestrial cat at the same time its special.
Garbage.
