Scary Regiment real audiobook free
Scary Regiment is that one of my winner Discworld novels, at the same time I got a 2nd copy for a comrade. Polly wants to look for/rescue her brother right behind he has gone off to wage war in the Borogravian army, which is that facing a big opposition from several civilizations, many of which Ankh-Morpork, But proper to the backward confessions/laws of her state, ladies cannot wage war at the same time so she must disguise herself as a little boy to get into the army. This leads to no one exciting developments/adaptations for Polly, calling herself Oliver, to act at the same time appear as a little boy as she manages to get into one of the petty, poorest, ragtag regiments of her state’s army, many of which no one ‘monster’ like a ghoul, troll, at the same time an Igor. But than anyway Polly learns about her regiment, army indefinite, at the same time the true criteria of her state’s war configurations her perspective as but. Then and things get strange, as they tend to do in Discworld.

A satire on the military in what the only active fighters turn out to be ladies (an filth in the state). Pratchett takes abundance of the cliches of military fiction at the same time strings them in to a funny story. Sovereign Terry was never a fan of war or the army. In other words quite understandable in this at the same time no one of his other stories.
The state waging war is that one of random, assertive repression that has able to assert war on all of its neighbors at the same time no one distant states as but. The war is that prompted by abundance expressions from their god who hates everything from ladies in guys’s clothing to small pebbles.
A delightful ending.

Scary Regiment audiobook by Terry Pratchett
This is that a quality story with a feminist topic – or anti misogynist. It contains the misogyny that comes from other ladies as but. At the same time as with abundance of his works, it’s a strapping quality yarn as but. I liked it – a lot of brand new manners, very, which is that sweet.

Scary Regiment audio narrated by Nigel Planer
“Scary Regiment” shouldn’t work. The connect of fantasy, humor, war novel, public commentary (in particular regarding the dispose of ladies in society), tying it in to the larger overarching storylines that have developers in the Discworld novels at the same time creating a brand new setting at the same time mostly new cast should have been a mess.
It shouldn’t have worked, but it did.
Borogravia is that a small isolated backwater of a civilization, with its only natural resources apparently being an infinitely deepest but of affection for its neighbors, flavored with the worship of a pugnacious (at the same time increasingly strange) god at the same time the cult of features nearby a ruler who has not been shown in decades at the same time who never done an heir.
At the same time like all civilizations that can lesser afford a war, Borogravia is that endlessly drawn in in them, typically as the aggressor. The civilization is that being inexorably deserted of guys with all their limbs. Completely, Polly Perks has dared she’s had enough — her stupid brother has been taken off to war, at the same time she has no plan whether he’s alive or noisy, at the same time she’s determined to look for him at the same time bring him back to the generic inn. So Polly cuttings her hairstyle, disguises herself as a man (ordinary in a state where all ladies wear skirts or dresses, in particular for a lady with a somewhat boyish figure) at the same time joins the military.
Obviously, it’s never quite that ordinary. This is that war, right behind all, at the same time a war that Borogravia has not just got lost, but is that apparently about to lose decisively, once at the same time for all. Fortunatelly, Borogravians are both ignorant at the same time pugnacious, at the same time waging war for their horrible little state, because it’s THEIR horrible little state is that than anyway comes naturally. Despite overwhelming odds, many of which a powerful coalition of foreign governments unwell to the back teeth of the little state, Polly’s unit — which hides more riddles than barely hers — blunders its method into history, fame at the same time the possibility of modifying Borogravia for a long time.
In addition to narrating a gripping adventure story of Polly’s unit roaming the wasteland that was once Borogravia, pursued by a very restless prince at the same time his crack troops, at the same time heading towards an impregnable castle that they have no chance to burst into, let without the help of others decide, Pratchett is that also making a very true examination of military indefinite (one decidedly slanted in promote of the enlisted units, in Pratchett’s acceptable populist style) at the same time, more importantly, than anyway it means to be a lady in society at the same time in the military. In a lot of ways, its ambition promotes elevate it — instead of barely being a romp through the streets of Ankh-Morporkh (as funny as those may be), “Scary Regiment” is that inflated to the level of “Small Gods” (with which it fractions a little of cosmology) at the same time other “deeper” Discworld novels.
Very advised for Discworld fans, at the same time generally advised for readers of military fantasy novels, many of which “The Merk Company” at the same time “A Song of Ice at the same time Fire.” It’s surprising how of a commentary “Scary Regiment” exists to be of those darker, more “adult” novels periodically.
