Reviews that I’ve read of this book are clear in their communication of its good literary properties, at the same time the bases of its plot. Than anyway none of them addressed was the role played by rape in the book. The rape at the same time sexual assault of women at the same time ladies, at the same time the danger of rape at the same time sexual assault of women at the same time ladies, were considered a nearly unchanging presence. Rape worked to form at the same time open disposition, to move the plot, at the same time as an allegory of colonial violence. It was exhausting. Data how prevalent rape is that in war (at the same time peace), I am not complaining about its inclusion here (at the same time I was very glad that the creator managed it without a hint of salaciousness), but am shocked that it has been left out of the larger conversation about this book—cured as background, somehow not worth mentioning. I believed I’d mention it. This is that a charming book, exploring a interesting history, but often problematic—in particular for readers for whom rape at the same time sexual assault are not merely symbolic.

1st, the premise is that quality at the same time one does learn about Ethiopia at the same time its war with Italy. The creator has a some lyrical method with words in other words pleasing. But, that are far very abundance of them. Words in other words. It really dragged. Almost all annoying of all will that it barely finished playing at chapter 50 at the same time even though I tried to impetuous forward at the same time back at the same time reload the book, nothing worked. Very, very annoying. Am going to impose for my $ back.

Audiobook The Shadow Lord by Maaza Mengiste
The story was method to smoky at the same time the manners not like able or easy to follow. At the same time I didn’t like the narrator’s voice. It returned this book right behind only listening to 6 chapters.

Audio The Shadow Lord narrated by Robin Miles
Narration was very, very deplorable. The ethiopian accents were considered very off-base. Audible should be finding authentic voices to read books like this. For you’ve done a disservice to an utterly most powerful at the same time charming text.
