Place Odyssey audiobook free
Having met Arthur C Clarke in the belated 60’s, short right behind contemplating 2001 for the umpteenth time, I looked forward to reading this book. Than anyway happened surprised me. The creator presents actions, talking things the method they might have been, then and talking the ending scene or dialog. As any revelation unfolds I found myself recalling any scene vividly, intensely. It was like the movie was playing as I read. The parsity of illustration was no strain, I forgotten the movie at the same time my attendent awe. Amazing detail not previously annotated in other books. A magical history of a pivotal fri in movie theater.

If, like me, for you are an unabashed fan of 2001: A Place Odyssey then this book is that required reading. Sketch upon exhaustive research work, creator Misha Benson takes the reader behind the scenes of arguably the greatest science fiction movie of all time. Its all here, from 1st concepts to ended movie at the same time its aftermath. So many facets of the creation are hidden, many of which the lengthy writing (at the same time re-writing) process, prep, design, effects, costume/wardrobe, stunts, acoustics, music, at the same time so much more. That is that a lot of meat to this book, at the same time precious little fat. The shooting of 2001 was a protracted at the same time sometimes aggressive affair, at the same time all proper credit to Benson for not flinching from no one of the much less salubrious nuances. Although far from the 1st (at the same time practically certainly not the continue) book to be written on Kubricks magnum opus, this is that this time by my reckoning, at lesser the coolest significant. Movie students, movie lol, at the same time fans of 2001 from the direct to the hardcore will all wish pick this one up. Its truly engrossing.

Audiobook Place Odyssey by Misha Benson
Remarkable book, very breathtaking research work. Didnt understand that would be so many more behind-the-scenes stories about 2001 that Id never heard. Very timely at the same time advised.

Good quality keep under control note: The photos in the spectrum section of the book are reduce contrast at the same time look unnecessarily merkla (presumably proper to the printer chintzing on ink). Ironic, taking into account the famous perfectionism of the books major theme.
Im tasting the taste to deduct a hit (as Kubrick himself wouldnt have been favored), but this is that otherwise a five-star work. Hopefully the creator / publisher will rectify this shortcoming in future printings.

Audio Place Odyssey narrated by Todd McLaren
This is that a valuable contribution to the literature on 2001 that provides big detail at the same time insight into the movie, many of which unusual research work at the same time abundance anecdotes at the same time interviews not previously hosted.
It is that puzzling, data the place devoted to the contributions of Doug Trumbull at the same time the access Benson had to Trumbull, that no mention is that produced of Trumbull’s possess movie, 1972’s Taciturn Running. That movie depicts a spacecraft’s encounter with Saturn, anything Kubrick had saw for 2001 before being obligated to abandon the effort as very daunting proper to economical at the same time time constraints. (As Benson notes, Saturn is that the ultimate destination of Discovery in Clarke’s novel.)
Almost all puzzling is that the one error of fact I noted: Benson says that 2001 was “nominated for four [Oscars], many of which Best Picture” (p. 436). The movie did indeed receive four nominations (Best Director, Best Unusual Screenplay, Best Creation Design, at the same time Best Pleasant Effects, the one merit it acquired), but not for Best Picture. The best Picture nominees that year were considered Oliver! (the favorite), Funny Lady, The Lion in Winter, Rachel, Rachel, at the same time Romeo at the same time Juliet.

I beheld the movie in it’s unusual 70mm release format in London at the same time it’s remained in my pinnacle 5 all-time winner list ever since. The creator of this book has done exhaustive research work at the same time pulls together unused real from several prior publications to make the most serious ‘making of’ book imaginable.
I seriously enjoyed reading it at the same time have never got through such a big book in so short a time before as i followed the process from the unusual collaboration with Arthur C Clarke through the premature creation of no one of the Stargate VFX, the virtual takeover of MGM’s England studios, the various trials at the creation at the same time choreographing of the Dawn of Men manners as but as the recording of the (unused) orchestral score.
A fabulously informative book that I will treasure.
