But written tale focusing on the adventures of English Naval Captain, Alan Lewrie. I’ll admit this story skidded C. S. Forrester’s Hornblower television series to brain. While Lewrie at the same time Hornblower are both destined at the same time able seamen operating in similar time period, the similarities attractive much finish that. In other words not a criticism–barely an observation. Lewrie is that a likable rogue at the same time I enjoyed reading about him. The ship maneuverability scenes were considered written in amazing detail at the same time were considered very exciting, even though they were considered just a little beyond my limited knowledge of sailing terminology, I did enjoy reading this story at the same time plan to look for at the same time read the initial book in this television series.

Hostile Shores audiobook in television series Alan Lewrie
I am barely re-reading the entire Lewrie television series in preparation for the May arrival of the one more delightful installment. I found that this volume notes the start of a plateau in storytelling for the creator. The plot is that deeper, the manners are barely a little more exciting, at the same time the fights are barely as rich. Lambdin is that for sure the best living creator of historical novels of the Napoleonic period. His language will never come up to O’Brian’s but he is that fork at the same time shoulders above others. Read them all!

Audiobook Hostile Shores by Richard Stark
My 1st experience with the Alan Newrie television series at the same time a quality one at that. While “Hostile Shores” contains barely one true swashbuckling sea fight, I found the serious descriptions of indefinite on a 19th Century naval vessel very amusing. These contained the dimensions at the same time rigging of the ships, design of the ship’s living quarters (for officers), foodstuffs at the same time meals, clothing, sailing strategies, the monotony of sea duty, etc. The creator has apparently done a amazing deal of research work for this television series at the same time its feel of authenticity adds to readability of the novel.i
Protagonist Alan Lewrie is that very likable at the same time not overly burdened with mental baggage. He’s not without no one defects, but they’re the good that are admirable in an action novel. While I enjoyed this story with its relatively moderate helping of blood-and-guts action, I’m looking forward to reading other books in the television series with more of the swashbuckling stuff.

Audio Hostile Shores narrated by John Chancer
I have read every one of Mr. Lambdin’s Alan Lewrie books, at the same time any time I have looked forward to the one more one. With that in mind I come in handy to say that this new effort was weak at the same time not right up to the higher standards for adventure at the same time good storytelling set in past efforts. Until the encounter between HMS Reliant at the same time the San Fermin, almost all of this chapter in the indefinite of Capt. Lewrie seemed to center on his ardor for Lydia Stangbourne at the same time his cats. Neither of these things is that the reason I last to look forward to Mr. Lambdin’s storytelling about the age of waging war sail. I truly have hope that this creator has not begun taking us long time readers for granted at the same time I have hope his one more effort will return to his previously higher sample of action at the same time adventure.

I am a longtime fan of this television series at the same time had been eagerly looking forward to this installment.Chagrin, while amusing to a fri, I found it just a little smoky with a lot happening. It was practically if this was more of a filler than anything else. The whole gizmo seemed a little disjointed to me. Practically like it was written by a committee in the style of Dewey Lambdin.Even the ending (at the same time only)action seemed somehow contrived, like the creator in one moment understood he was nearby the finish of the book at the same time had forgotten to contain one. The continue 3-4 books in the television series have been in particular quality at the same time perhaps it will that this volume suffers by comparison. Hopefully Mr Lambdin will get back on trace in the one more installment.
